"First... Ben Davis' last show was on Saturday, June 16, and Mandy Bruno's was today, June 17. As for their replacements, Robert Hunt (who was in the ensemble of this production and a Javert on the tour) will be rejoining the show in a couple of weeks. Understudies will be going in for both roles in the meantime."
My guess is they didn't find a replacement yet and are just going to have the understudies go on. Perhaps they'll then upgrade one understudy (probably Megan) to take the role full time, upgrade a swing to an understudy, and meanwhile find more replacements to put into the cast when needed.
Even after reading that I wondered if there was an actual replacement announced, and Lea simply forgot to mention it.

Because she hasn't been officially announced? That seems weird. Mandy was announced as the replacement for Celia long before Celia left, but I guess since Mandy was "fired" or replaced or whatever they didn't have time to announce her in time.
It kind of looks like she just forgot to mention it. My friend was offered the cover, but she turned it down. I'm very interested to know who the replacement is, if there is one. I know they had Megan at that audition as well, so perhaps they're going to move her up?
p.s. - Lea Salonga confirmed that she's performing at Les Miz on July 4th and they will only be playing a song she recorded at the Macy's Fireworks celebration.

Thank you. I see that now.

Please note that the stars will not perform live."

I've only heard Bruno sing "On My Own" on the site we cannot mention here, but it was probably the worst rendition of the song that I've ever heard. They will probably promote from the inside, but I think the best choice for the role is Brooke Sunny Moriber (The Wild Party, The Threepenny Opera). I have no idea if it's true or not, but I heard that she auditioned for the part during the initial process. She'd be amazing. (And, she also played Young Cosette and Eponine during the first run of the show. It could be a fun story, a la Lea Michele.)
I'm extremely happy for Bob Hunt. I did a play with him years ago and he's such a sweet, genuinely talented person.
According to BWW:
Megan McGinnis steps into the role of Eponine, beginning tomorrow night.
Robert Hunt steps into Javert, beginning July 16. Drew Sarich and Ben Crawford will alternate the role in the interim.
Ann Harada is staying put.
Chip Zien is Thenardier from June 29 until further notice.

Why is megan being announced as if she's jsut joining the company? Hasn't she been understudying Eponine already?
I think it's just bad phrasing. But yeah, she's always been Eponine understudy.
According to his website, it looks like Robert Hunt's sudden promotion will keep him from doing several shows he's already signed onto, including Les Miz at the MUNY...

I wonder how long Ann Harada is safe for, this was just so crazy and sudden.
I am so confused. Don't get me wrong, I really like Robert Hunt as Javert, I just don't see how his voice will go better with the orchestrations, or how he'll be doing anything that Ben Davis couldn't have been doing if directed.

Wow- congrats to Megan!!! I'm sooo excited for her. She's fabulous in the role and I can't wait to see her again!
Robert Hunt??
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'm seeing Les Mis July 4th and can't wait to see Megan in this role! I hope she's in that day. And Lea too.
Does anyone know why Ben Davis is leaving early? According to his website he was supposed to stay with the show until September.
But did you read his blog?

Someone really needs to slap Cameron Mackintosh.
I am soo happy for Megan McGinnis!
I think Cameron Mackintosh does these things just to prove that he's still a diva. That being said, it's really unfair that some talented people and some rising stars, as well as all the fans, have been hurt by his actions.
He's doing an awful job of casting the Les Mis revival. The only cast member so far I've really gone, "Oh, that's great casting!" was Lea Salonga, and she had to wait out Daphne Rubin-Vega, who shouldn't be doing musicals at all.
mikem - "I notice that Lea doesn't mention anything about Ann Harada."
Ann Harada is staying.
Salonga specified that understudies would be going on as both Javert and Eponine in the meantime.
Does this mean Megan McGinnis's promotion is only a temporary one?

I don't think so.

Can we get a replacement for Max Von Essen? Like Survivor... vote him off the turn table?
Hey now, he's improved. (And they let him ditch the wig, SCORE.)
Besides, Max is easily one of the better members of the now-decimated Les Mis cast. Ann, Gary, and Alex would probably get voted off before him.
(What would be the Les Mis version of Survivor anyway? "Who's going to be first up against the wall when the revolution comes?")
