Many of us would appreciate reports on the Sunday show, and on the Tuesday show as well.
p.s. Wednesday, October 24th, marks the first anniversary of the Revival:

From: Welcome to Broadway John Owen Jones!
Is there any more reviews of Judy's performance as Fantine? Is she brilliant like Lea Salonga as the character?

I saw the new guys last night:
I appreciated Alex and Drew (not so excited about Ivan Rutherford). I would love to see Alex again someday (he should be well-rested now) and I've already booked a January trip to London to see/hear Drew again. John Owen-Jones gives the strongest, most interpretive portrayal of Jean Valjean. He looks like JVJ, sings and acts beautifully. His phrasing and mannerisms are right-on meaningful.
Judy Kuhn is better than any Fantine I've seen, except for Lea. Lea is much more expressive and involved. Although Judy sounds wonderful, Lea's voice is fuller (Is that a word?) and she has so much more stage presence. Judy seemed tentative. She also needs to practice her spitting (Lea would spit globs).
Becca Ayers was on as Madame T (Is she on all week?). She showed every hilarious expression and got audience reaction in all the right places. I wish I could see her again before Jenny Galloway returns.
Leah Horowitz played a perfectly suitable, traditionally dressed and acted Cosette. I like her voice, and she puts feeling into her singing. I liked Ali's petiteness, sweetness and prettiness, though. By the way, Cosette is back in black. The white dress was just for Ali.
Robert Hunt must be the best Javert ever. (I guess there might be other, maybe more informed opinions). His voice is so full and strong. Whichever JVJ actor he has played against, all of the scenes with the two characters together seem just perfect.
Megan, Gary, Adam, Max von Essen and Chip Leonard all continue to give wonderful, enjoyable performances. And both Brian and Zack are fine Gavroches.
I feel, however, weakness in the ensemble. With the specific exception of Michael Minarik as Grantaire (and Ben Crawford in his parts), there is nothing filling the stage. There used to be much more feeling ( as well as stronger voices) coming from the students, or the women, or the citizens, or the guests.
I especially miss Nehal Joshi (Lesgles and other parts), who added so much, whether as a guard, sailer, customer or citizen (not to mention his wonderful, booming officer voice at the barricade). Even the slow-motion scene of the runaway cart is now especially lacking without his somersault.
p.s. If anyone from the West End reads this, would you kindly let us know how Drew is doing over there.

p.s., there are some excellent comments about Drew on Dress Circle's message boards.

Who's Simon Bowman? Sounds familiar but I am way too lazy to look him up.
Awww, Drew. Is it very weird that I actually miss him?

p.s., thanks for the review! Could it be possible they haven't made the white dress for her yet? Don't the understudies wear white too? Oh, wait. Did an u/s ever even go on for Ali? She and Adam never miss a show.
adam missed. I saw his understudy once, he was fantastic!
Marissa McGowan has gone on as Cosette. I don't think the understudies wear the revival's redesign.
Understudies and replacements get the original costumes. Both Cosette understudies have the black dress, and Ann and all the Mme T understudies I've seen have had the full-length dress in the wedding instead of Jenny's knee-length monstrosity.
JOJ is... probably tied with Randal Keith for best Valjean I've ever seen. Great acting, and such a powerful and expressive voice. Well-rounded and less idiosyncratic than Drew and Alex, but none the worse for it. John and Rob doing the Confrontation was INCREDIBLE.
Judy didn't impress me that much. Her acting is more mature and solid than Lea's--she seemed more at home in the show and the role--but unlike Lea, she doesn't seem to do much with it. I couldn't really put words to how she characterizes Fantine except maybe as a woman who's totally worn out. Also I cannot stand her voice. Couldn't stand it as Cosette, can't stand it as Fantine.
Leah Horowitz is boring. Prettily sung, blandly acted. Adam and Ali fed off each other's cuteness and awkwardness in A Heart Full of Love; now Adam has to do twice as much work and it looks overdone.
Becca Ayers was also on as Mme Thénardier and she's much better than Ann. She reminded me of Jennifer Butt and her "You are FRAYING MY LAST NERVE" attitude, except Becca's Madame was ten times as neurotic and you got the sense that one of these days she would just snap and go on a rampage with a meat cleaver.

I think the white dress was more like specific to Ali, rather than the revival's design. There is/was only one.
p.s. I agree with Marianne's review. That is pretty much what I was trying to express. Thanks.

I completely agree!
You don't like Judy Kuhn's voice though? Awwwwww...I love her.
Ah, all is right with the world now *lol* Cosette is back in black Not that I disliked the white dress or Ali, quite the opposite, but I am allllll about 'tradition' and the orginal LES MIZ designs
Thank you all for the reviews!!!
Going back in Jan. Can't wait!!!

That's funny about the white dress only being for Ali. Even though I thought the dress itself was inappropriate for the time period, I still found the different costumes refreshing. I also like tradition in Les Mis. I wish that CamMac thought the same...I hate what they've done to the orchestra and score.
see I'm the opposite... I really enjoy the new orchestrations. Maybe a few of the songs don't fit too well but overall I like the renovated score much more
