I can't speak for Mr Stites as I am not he. Nor was I in the room after Daphne's callback. I am only stating the order of hierarchy in casting and producing. Cameron Macintosh overrides all of them as he is the Moneyman. People write things here as if they are in the know, as in firing a casting director for casting Ms Bruno,or others. I was stating that' s not how it works on a professional level. John Caird had Daphne in mind for the role. I don't think anyone woud have changed his mind at the time.
Um, just wondering...does anyone know how they will be switching between the two Javert u/s? Will they be switching everyday, etc., and does anyone know their schedule?
This might help you a little. It's a bulletin from Drew's band that went out this morning:
Hey Y'all!
I'll be on as Javert (at the Broadhurst Theatre on Broadway) all this weekend! That's today (Thurs), tomorrow, and both shows Sat. More infos to come!
Killer
Drew
Something wicked - Caissie Levy is currently in the ensemble of the Broadway company of Wicked and is also an Elphaba understudy.
New casting info!
Drew Sarich will be the new Valjean for three months this summer! He didn't say when he starts, but I'm guessing it will be pretty soon!
OH my GOD.
I'd crossed my mind, but only briefly.
I wonder who the new Grantaire will be.

WHAT?? Drew as Valjean?? Now THAT is interesting, and something that's never occured to me before!

That is really interesting-I can't see Sarich as Valjean, though I'm tempted to try to go see him and to see what state the cast is in.
Sarich as Valjean!!?? Holy crap! I just can't picture that, but wow!
Well, maybe they're actually taking a chance, and branching out in their idea of what makes a Valjean a Valjean. Actually, that's not a bad perspective for a revival to take.
It might've been more interesting had he been able to do this when DRV was Fantine. Unorthodox, meet unorthodox.
Still, it could be fun! Whoever thought the last note in Who am I? could be wailed in rock-style? (Meaning, I'm sure it will.)
Well, either way, I'm desperately curious about it!

Interesting to see if he could act sad when Fantine died.
And Drew is so much older [and more mature?] than Alex -- almost four years.
p.s. Aside from fatigue, is Alex OK healthwise?
Curiouser and curiouser...
I can't wait to see Drew as Valjean! Look how he climbed up the ladder!
The ladder of WEIRD.

Ok , Drew is very talented BUT...what the hell is going on with that show?
I love Sarich as a performer, but I'm a little nervous about seeing this. Congrats and best of luck to him though.
Drew as Valjean!! OMG I'm excited!! I hope he goes on when I'm there, if so I'm so seeing Les Mis again!!!
According to Michael Minarik's website, he'll be taking over as Grantaire, and will be a Javert and Thenardier understudy.
He was excellent in the Urinetown and Little Women tours, so I expect he'll be great here, too.

Yup...I heard the same thing
Ok. I had my compacted wisdom teeth dug out yesterday. I'm on pain medication right now. So can someone tell me regarding Drew, am I hallucinating or what? That be some crazy **** right there. I can't even imagine. Squee.
And if I'm not hallucinting, does anyone know when he'll be starting as Valjean? Because I may have to change some flights, seeing as I'm going to be in Nyc in about 3 months and a week and a half from tomorrow.
Why is Alex leaving for 3 months or is he not coming back? He must be going on his honeymoon or something.

he got married?
Good Lord. Who else can they throw Drew Sarich on as? Not that I am complaining-- he has the talent to do it. I just find this whole thing incredibly odd.
