The only musicals I can think of with lesbian characters in it are Rent and Falsettoland.
Anyone know of others?

The Producers...
And does Mama Morton count?
eta: Oh yeah -- and The Color Purple, of course.

Posted: 5/22/06 at 10:50amMama Morton is implied, but I still think it counts because it's impossible not to see what is being implied.

And The Wild Party...
Emma Goldman might have been a lesbian, so that would also include Ragtime and Assassins.

Zanna Don't.
I've always had suspicions about Elphaba and Glinda as well as Daisy and Violet.

Hairspray, if you count the gym teacher in the dodgeball scene.

Re: Personals: You mean "I Could Always Go To You", which is also featured on Emily Skinner's self titled solo album, accompanied by none other than the lovely Alice Ripley.
Re: Daisy and Violet: incestual relations are for another thread, but since you brought it up, wouldn't that just be considered masturbation?
My Life With Albertine is full of lesbians.
Emma Goldman gives Evelyn Nesbit a very sexual backrub in the book, that leads into (implied) sex. So, yes, even though that's not explored in the musical (because how could they fit every plot line into 2 1/2- 3 hours... it's already long enough as is), she would still be considered a lesbian, I suppose. Or at least she has some very strong tendencies...
