I am going to be in the city this Saturday to go to the Harry Potter exhibit at the NY Historical Society and I was wondering if there would be any chance for me to be able to grab tickets for either of Saturday's performances of OOTI? There seems to be around 25 tickets for both performances, but all are premium and are running $250-$300. Could the box office be selling these at a discounted rate the day of, or even TKTS? If not, what would be the likelihood of me being able to get SRO if I head to the BO around 11?
I may be wrong, but being that this is closing weekend for OOTI, the likelihood of tickets being offered on TKTS or SRO may be very slim to none. Even on Stubhub, the extremely slim pickings are priced sky high.
But who knows. It’s a fabulous production and could be worth a shot.
While anything is possible, i would agree that your chances are pretty slim.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
IF they don't sell as premiums (which is a big if), there are likely people looking for those to flip down to regular price, so I think being one of those people and checking the site often is more likely. It seems very unlikely they would go from premium to discounted at TKTS without a stop in between, unless the producers are very bullish and want people to think premium is their only option.
If any of those seats turns orange, I'd buy it immediately rather than hope it will be at TKTS later.
Same with StubHub, them being overpriced may change as showtime approaches...
But if you'll be around there anyway, try the lottery and see what happens?

Just FYI they are no longer doing lottery/rush tickets but instead selling Standing Room tickets for $80 when the box office opens.
I would not count on getting SRO if you get there at 11 - it seems like the lines have been long recently, but the $80 price tag might deter some people.
I highly doubt that TKTS will have tickett, there are very limited seats (if it isn't sold out yet) and they probably know that there will be people trying the box office for tickets the day of the show. I would keep an eye out for people selling them on here/StubHub/the actual website. It might be worth it to check the box office for returns too on Saturday.
Good luck! I hope you are able to see it - it's an amazing production.
I was at the show for the matinee on Wednesday, and the theater was packed to capacity. Not an empty seat, and every SRO spot occupied. If you can get one, Id say go for it. The energy was incredible. Dont miss it.

I just left the Harry Potter Exhibition. It was incredible! You will love it.

What business is that of yours, Chucky?"
The OP makes it my/our business by stating that he will "head to the BO around 11"."
So if someone says they're going to see a show on Thursday, you feel you need to know why they can't go on Wednesday, or Tuesday or last week? If someone is going to an evening show on a two show day, you need to know why they were unable to attend the matinee? He's asking for advice based on his expected schedule for the day. Unless you're prepared to offer to drive him if he can leave earlier, it's none of your damn business.

OP wants to roll up the final weekend and purchase inexpensive last minute tickets to a nearly-sold out show. If OP really wants to go for less than $300, they could line up for SRO at 6am to get SRO tickets, so chuckydisc's question is valid as the OP didn't explain why they can't arrive prior to 11am. Is it due to travel? Could OP prioritize their morning differently to accommodate waiting for tickets? If they're completely inflexible on the time they can arrive at the box office, that's a very different story than choosing to go to the box office at 11am.

If his intent was that, he could have simply said "If you can get there much earlier, maybe by 6 or 7, you will have a much better shot at SRO tickets. 11 will probably be too late." The OP doesn't have to justify his hour by hour schedule or apologize for not getting there until 11 to be able to receive this advice. And if wanting to score a cheap ticket to a hot show or a show where most tickets are selling for a lot more was a crime, 80% of the people on this board would be in jail.
