On her way to the western skies. This woman will sing this score so deliciously. I can't wait til the news that this beautiful woman will take over the role. ...One can dream, right?
You'll be marvelous, Lisa.
Let's just hope the Gershwin announces Julia's vacations so I can race to scoop up tickets to all of Lisa's performances.

I don't wanna say old news, because it's not. I think I'm just one of the few who has actually known about it for a while (I heard about it some time ago).
Good for her, though I can't imagine her in the part. Two more reasons to see the show.

I think a few of us have known for quite some time, Yankee. It was finally made official a week or two ago, I think, and I was told I could spread the word.
As one of her biggest fans, I didn't really see her in it either. But, I can only imagine how stunning her vocals will be.
I am very excited to see how Lisa fairs in the role. She is a wonderful performer with a stellar voice.
As a personal friend of Saycon Sengbloh, I am a bit biased, but I would just like to take this oppertunity to congratulate her on a successful two years with the show. Saycon was a truly outstanding Elphaba, and I am glad to see her moving on to exciting new ventures in her career.
I wish Lisa all the best!

Agreed, though I'm not nearly as big a fan of hers as you are. Don't get me wrong, she's very talented, but I just don't get all "fan-y."

Lisa's a wonderful woman, too. We met at WIW and got very close and have been in touch ever since. It's so great to see her getting more work. She gives beautiful performances.
As I said in the post, me being preferencial to Saycon has alot to do with being friends with her personally, but I wouldn't say I am "fan-y" about her.

She was very, very good in Aida, and in Times. I didn't see Woman in White.

When she went on as Marion, hearing her sing ALL FOR LAURA was... breathtaking.
Wow, this was a very braggy thread.

I wanted a chance to see Saycon, but sadly, it never happened.
Glad to hear that Lisa's joining the show, but why do I get the feeling that someone has changed alliances.
I think the recent casting of elphaba standbys is more exciting then the full time elphabas.
Kalimba-
Perhaps, its because someone else’s show closed?
ManCape, I would laugh, except I'm guilty of being braggy in the past...
Either way, congrats to Lisa. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of her, the way Wicked goes through Elphie's faster than bad Thai food.

Anyway, Saycon wasn't the original standby, right? Eden was. Or am I mistaken?
It's a nice meaty job for Lisa, I think. A musical, I think called ACE(?), at Goodspeed, I believe, was also after her. But I hope this is the right way for Lisa. Hopefully she'll develop more of a fan-base and her name will be known to more people. Though sometimes the WICKED fans can be a bit... enthused... it'll be good to see people talking about how wonderful a performer she is.
I'll never forget some of the performances I've seen from her. AIDA, WIW, TIMES... Each thing she does is very precise - she seems so sure of every beat and every moment and seems to have such beautiful control. Such a great thing to watch. Hopefully she gets to originate a role again in the future.
In the meantime, I wouldn't mind seeing her tackle Lucille in a revival of PARADE or Mother in RAGTIME. She's played Eva Peron before and, if she were a larger name, would be stellar as Eva in the hopefully-happening EVITA revival.

What does my support of Lisa have to do with my support of Laura? I've been eagerly awaiting every one of Lisa's performances long before I even MET Laura.
Both are beautiful actresses and beautiful people. I didn't know we were only allowed to support one actress.
I think you got my point.
myManCape- what did iLuv ever say about "knowing" Lisa? He was posting news on someone he enjoys as a performer. Isn't that what people generally do on these message boards? Whether or not he "knows" her has nothing to do with this thread. At all.
And when did "knowing" people become a competition?

I was posting a thread in congratulations to an actress who landed a good gig. I'm not the one on here mentioning how I might be biased because I'm a personal friend of Saycon.
I don't really think that a thread of congratulations is bragging.

DrunkyMcWasted, I'm afraid that some of the people on these boards forget sometimes that these actors and actresses are actually, deep down, somewhere under the costumes and make-up... PEOPLE. I think that some people here think that knowing one of them personally is an accomplishment. It is no more an accomplishment than knowing an ordinary accountant or secretary or doctor or teacher or whatever. The fact that they are a performer makes them no more superior than every other working class American. Everyone has a talent and a drive.
I would hope that "knowing" people isn't a contest, simply because I don't think I would be amazing simply because I knew someone famous. If that happened, all the ordinary friends of celebrities would be celebrities, too, no?
iluvtheatertrash, how is what I said any different than what you consistently do? Don't drag my name into this. I simply mentioned briefly that I knew Saycon and that might bias why I like her as Elphaba. I didn't go on about our lunch plans.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm just saying that I'm not the only here who "knows" someone.
I did not mean to make you feel attacked. Sorry if it came across that way.
