"I actually had to ask her how to pronounce her last name.
Its pronounced Breh - sha. "
Oh, that's how I've been pronouncing it! Thanks :)

It is indeed Breh-sha.
All_For_Laura, Lisa told me that Julia is supposed to go to Italy for a week in... July, I think? She's going to get me dates as soon as she knows so I can scoop up tickets to as many of those performances as possible, haha.

Just so you guys know, it's official that Lisa Brescia's first day on the job is February 13th.
Julia Murney is Elphaba LOVE. Her interpretation gives the character and the show SO much more credibility. And I'm glad to hear everyone so excited about Lisa. I dont know anything about her, but I know one Amneris who's made a pretty good Elphaba. Why not make it two?

I thought I'd heard Julia Murney was unofficially only doing 6 shows a week, so Lisa may be on more than you hoped for.
Is Feb13 when she starts or her first day as Elphaba?

I think they meant that's her first day as the standby not when she's actually going on as Elphaba.

Ok this presents a problem. I have no desire to see Wicked again, but Julia AND Lisa? I was already planning on lottoing for Julia, but I adore Lisa and have since I saw her in Aida in 2004. I think she will be perfect. I have been waiting to see her live again for a long time. Congratulations to her. Major break. I hope I can make it.
just wanted to state again how UNexcited i am for julia murney
Ooh, I'd actually see this show for Lisa!
I saw her in The Times They Are A-Changin' and she was fabulous.
To clarify: Lisa begins as the standby February 13th.
syzygy, Julia plans on doing eight shows a week as Elphaba, just like every other "Wicked" principle has. She was doing six shows a week at the latter end of her run on tour due to doctors orders as the result of an illness, so perhaps you are confusing that with the possibility of her doing that schedule in New York.
Wow. I am pleasantly shocked. Lisa did very well in Aida, so I am pretty excited to see her take on Elphaba. Good job, Lisa!

Well that was pointless, mean, uncalled for, and ulitmately completely irrelevant seeing how this is a thread for LISA. Why would you post on a thread saying how unexcited you are for someone that the thread is not even about?
bump...
Does anybody know if Lisa will actually be on as Elphaba on Feb. 13th?
Thanks
From what I understand she has no planned performances until July, so if Murney is healthy and all goes according to plan, she won't be on.
oh, ok....thanks for your help!

It's a tough role and it's cold out, so I'd expect Julia to come down with some sort of illness or leave of absence before July. She's only human.
And for everyone arguing...WE'RE NOT FINDING THE CURE FOR CANCER, THIS IS F---IN' WICKED!
Jeez. Some people.
Apparently she's going on today.
One of my friends is there and said she's on the board.

Best of luck to her if this is true!
I would LOVE to see her!!!! I think she has an AMAZING voice!
I also heard that she's performing today. If anyone saw her, please post a review!!
And now that the performance is done, I can honestly say this isn't a rumor.
My friend took a picture of the understudy slip that listed her.
Unfortunatly, my laptop power ran out before I could save it from photobucket.
Post the picture whenever you can, DRS
I just spoke to a friend at the theater who said Lisa was "visibly nervous but quite impressive."
Congrats to Lisa on her first performance as Elphaba. I hope to catch her in this role sometime soon!
