I think (and hope!) either Celia or Kerry. I know Kerry also loves the Little Mermaid a lot, lol. I think they both would be great for the role, but Im kind of leaning a little towards Celia.
Why all the fervour over Jenn Gambatease? (I may have spelled that wrong, but please don't take it as an opportunity to flame)... I saw her as Brenda in Hairspray, once, and she really... I don't know how else to say it, shamed the production. She didn't smile, barely looked at the audience during her introduction in Nicest Kids in Town, and generally looked like she didn't want to be there. And yet she still gets hired. Honestly, it was the most unproffessional, unbelievable thing I've ever seen.
Sorry, threadjack...
Umm..
Celia for president!

Well I've been doing my research into The Little Mermaid, which a stage show is going ahead, and I'm of the understanding that the only person so far to sign on the dotted line and play Ursula will be PAT CARROLL, who voiced the original Ursula in the hit 1989 movie version, which I think there alone is quite exciting, I also agree about Ashley Brown playing Ariel, beautiful Disney voice if ever i heard one!
Ariel - Jennifer Hope Wills or Celia Keenan-Bolger Prince Eric- Cheyenne Jackson Ursula- Tyne Daly King Triton - Jesse L. Martin Sebastion- Wayne Brady (!!) Flounder - Chad Kimball Scuttle - hunter Foster Chef Louie- John Tartaglia Flotsum and Jetsam- Raul Esparza & Will Chase

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Patti would be a real treat! But I highly doubt that she would do it. I like the idea of Sara in the role...
Also, I think the transformation at the end with Ursula would be very interesting to see, they might have to use to actresses to pull it off, so I don't know if it matters if Ursula is young or old or white or black ect...
Anyone think Samuel Wright should at least do a limited run as Sebastian. I hesitate to think of this show on Broadway without him. Sara Ramirez and Cheyenne get my votes, so many talented Ariels. Not Jenn Gambatease though, as much as I love her.
Dean: Can I tell you something?
Lorraine: That depends on what it is.
Dean: I think you're really really pretty.
Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.
(hee hee) i can really see him as ursula with the voice and all. I thin sara ramirez would make a brill ursula. i can't see gavin creel as prince eric somehow compared to the georgous cheyenne. cheyenne looks more like him and has a stunning voice.
i could see jessica grove as ariel thought. wat d'y think? my two definets for ariel, are celia keenan-bolger and jessica grove. they both fit well with cheyenne anyhoo. their voices are great!!!
I would love to see Harvey as Ursula. I want to hear Shoshana sing "Poor Unfortunate Soul." Who was Ursula during the readings? Ursula is just my favorite villain and I am so excited to see her on Broadway.
Emily Skinner was Ursula on the concept recording and I think she did it in one of the readings, but Menken is in love with Kerry Butler, his songs fit her voice amazingly well, so here's me having my fingers crossed for Kerry. And Shoshana woulf be an interesting Ursula, but should make it all ghetto and add too many riffs to it, and it would end up sounding like a bad Mariah Carey song.

Reviews and the like
i agree. shoshana bean would be quite an interesting ursula but rumors are, that they are using a puppet-type ursula like out in the florida show, with the voice of pat carroll (original film voice) and she has apparently, been approached to do it. but my fingers are still crossed for sara ramirez as ursula, celia keenan-bolger as ariel and cheyenne jackson as prince eric.
