In a letter I got back from Celia, she told me that she had been a part of TLM workshop as Ariel after the Tony's. So, shes a definite contender for Ariel. I believe it's between her and Kerry Butler. I love them both dearly but Kerry seems a bit too older-looking for a character who's supposed to be in her late teens. If Celia would be as amazing as I think she would, she could very well win the Tony Award.
wait wait so Little Mermaid is still a go to come to Broadway? Any idea when it is expected? So Disney will have Lion King, B and the B, Mary Popins, Tarzan, and Little Mermaid? I am impressed!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."
I can see Lion King lasting for a while, but how much longer you think B and the B will last? I feel it is strong because parents feel it is a safe bet for the kids. And did Mary Poppins do well in London?

well Disney is dominating Broadway, i personally hope Celia gets it on Broadway, but i dont think Little Mermaid will be out for a while what with Tarzan opening soon, i'd say a year or two after Tarzan opens
Well I think she's very pretty. And now that I think of it she should play Ariel! Here my new cast it's offical this time!
Jenn Gambastese-Ariel Andrew Samonsky-Prince Eric Sara Ramerez-Ursula James Naughton-King Triton Chester McGregory 3-Sebastion Harrison Chad-Flounder John Tartgila-Chef Louie Mark Maynard and Andy Karl-Flotsam and Jetsam
Poor Harrison chad...once he starts to go through puberty it's going to be tough for him to find roles on Broadway, as there are barely any roles for boys 13-16.
Last time I checked, The Little Mermaid was possibly opening in 2007, but I'm not sure.
If/When it opens, it won't be likely that all four Disney shows (BatB, Lion King, Tarzan, Mary Poppins) will still be running- they'd be competing with themselves. I think that BatB will close by then, and possibly either Tarzan or Mary Poppins. I just can't see Disney having five shows running on Broadway at the same time.
I think that Sara Ramirez is too young for Ursula, does anyone else think so? I always imagined Ursula being played by a middle-aged actor, as opposed to someone who is closer to Ariel's age. (the actor playing Ariel) I just feel like there needs to be an age gap between Ursula and Ariel.
Ursula spends a good portion of the movie young...
And unless they find a squid to play her for the other portion of the movie, makeup will probably be needed anyway...
Unless, they used carol channing.
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space
As I have said before, I believe that Ursula should be played by a man in drag, preferably Harvey, as the character was based off of Divine. But I dont know if Disney would allow that, so I would cast Meg Johnson. She was great in the London version of Chicago and her voice sound almost exactly like Usula's. I think that when Ursula is young, they should just have another actress play her.
