Surprised no one mentioned that The Little Mermaid was on today's The View. "Ariel" (Sierra Boggess) sang Part of Your World in costume. They showed how she "swam" in the water in her costume. She was great!

Posted: 2/1/08 at 7:31pmi was just looking at The View's official site and it seems that they put up the interviews a few days after they air on television. So maybe we'll be able to view it tomorrow or the day after.

Elisabeth Hasselback gushed like 6 year old.
Whoopi Goldberg looked confused, which summed up my opinion, as well.
It was so awkward. I felt bad for Sierra, who is clearly talented. And then they gave the free tickets to the audience, and their reaction was awkward, too. Like: Oh. Great. We have to go watch more of this.
I haven't seen the show yet, but I hope on stage she doesn't have to flap her arms and glide around in an abstract blue abyss while belting what was a nice, melodious song in the film. (Imagine Mrs. Potts belting the title song in Beauty and the Beast. Not a good a idea.)
You didn't miss anything.

Was she lipsyncing... it kinda looked like it to me.
Whoopi's reaction was priceless. Her thoughts seemed to go something like "Girl that was whack."

whoopi looked angry when elizabeth was giving away tickets/saying goodbye.
and yes, she does the "swimming/arm flapping" thing during the entire show. i think it works at some moments to help create fluidity and incredibly stupid at other points. for example, after the fight with triton in act 1 she screams at him and "storms" off all while flapping her arms in almost glee.

She was awesome.
Whoopi's "WTF?" face looking at the costume was a laugh!

Posted: 2/1/08 at 8:53pmShe was so totally sweet and adorable, and she sounded great. She was on one of the morning shows last weekend and since then I've been dying to see the show. Perfect casting.

Whoopi always has that look on the show. Watch it tomorrow, she'll have the same perplexed look on her face.

I agree it looked very awkward,
She certainly didn't look that pretty, the make-up was truely bad and she looked totally lost on that big stage and who was she looking for the whole time?
Flounder?
It may have been the staging and her inexperience for TV, but her acting looked stiff and bad.
The skirt is just abysmal and the tail looked like a dog tail coming out of her behind.
Why did she give away the heelie high heeled thing?
She has a powerful voice but to me it lacks character.
I can't imagine anyone buying a ticket after that.
A free ticket maybe, interesting they have that many free tickets to give away.

Posted: 2/1/08 at 11:32pmShe didn't give it away. It isn't like you can't ever see her feet.

Well then,
why is she singing about not even knowing what "feet" are?
I look too deep.

The smart thing would have been to have her just sing the song without the costume.
That's all people needed to hear.

Posted: 2/1/08 at 11:47pmWas it different than the performance on the Today show? They never showed her feet in that performance. She just stood there.
