Posted: 1/5/04 at 5:17pmEthel Merman or Bernadette, Ellen or Kerry-- enough of the comparisons. Go and enjoy the shows. LSOH is a crowd pleaser and all 4 times I have been there, the reaction to Kerry, Hunter and the entire cast was excellent. It seems to get better as time goes along.

It seems like everyone is just pissed off and in their own little worlds.
Ellen fans--she's the only Audrey and we're pissed off she can't find work!
Alice fans--she was robbed and we're pissed off she's not on Broadway!
Kerry fans--eveyone is picking on her and we're pissed about it!
Almost like Survivor camps. Maybe someone can win immunity.

Posted: 1/5/04 at 7:17pmI'm not a particular fan of Kerry, nor do I loathe her. I felt that her performance (based only on the soundtrack, mind you) sounded a tad different from what I had come to expect of Audrey, but hey, ya gotta be open to change. And trust me, she's not the worst Audrey I've heard, 'cause I've heard a coupla whoppers. Such as my first experience with LSoH.....Ahhh, you really haven't seen Little Shop of Horrors until you've seen it performed at an insane asylum.

Posted: 1/5/04 at 7:37pmAlright don't get excited. There's no big exciting story attached, really. It is funny to see people's reactions when I tell them about this, though. My cousin has Down Syndrome and lives in a special home, and as a treat they decided to collaborate with the patients in an insane asylum on a production of Little Shop of Horrors (what a choice) a few years ago. They threw a couple of "normal" people in it too, just to hold things together. It was far from Broadway, of course, but it was rather fun to watch. If you could manage to ignore the overwhelming presence of guards, that is. Anyway, during Get It, one of the guys working Audrey II decided to climb up and out of the plants mouth. So all of a sudden e pops out and tackles the guy playing Seymour and tries to throw him in the plant. The audience wasn't sure what to do, but the guards came and managed to calm all the actors down. Then the show just went on, just as if nothing had ever happened...

Posted: 1/5/04 at 7:44pmI must admit, it was the most entertaining production of Little Shop of Horrors I ever saw. No matter what other productions I see, whether movie, show, whatever, I always see that poor guy jumping out the plant screaming...like the devil himself was arising from the depths of Audrey II.

Posted: 1/5/04 at 8:05pmI wish I'dda seen that! That must have been so funny...and traumatizing for the poor Seymour.

Posted: 1/5/04 at 8:47pmSeymour was the one sad part about the whole thing. He was one of the guys with Down Syndrome, and I think that was the last show he ever participated in, even after the home he was in started putting on plays without the asylum (smart move. Still, it was rather funny, though I can't imagine how he must have felt.

Why must I protect her?

Posted: 1/5/04 at 9:53pmI dont think anyone is "beating" kerry. people havent been harsh to her. if anything its the CASTING DIRECTOR. not her. Kerry is simply a victim of being in a non-win situation.
