My ex BF's mom is one of the producers - I tried calling him but he didn't answer. I have a feeling LITTLE WOMEN will be the JANE EYRE of 2005. Great cast, amazing music, touching show, flop. I'm not being negative - I can't WAIT to see it. Do they have Monday nights?

I don't know anyone who went, but I do know that it was on TKTS this afternoon.

I went tonight....

I F-ING LOVE IT!!!

I'm sorry I'm way too tired to post a real review, but I thought they were in FINE form, the show was tight save for a few mic issues in Act I, Sutton is darling and has several show-stoppers, Maureen is salt of the earth and brings the house down w/ her 2nd act solo, the sets are stunning (influenced by the Impressionist paintings feel of that era), the cast is VERY strong. And it's just exciting to have something that's genuinely new music from a classic book. And the composer is YOUNG, like 33 or something! Impressive.

Some might argue that the supporting characters are not as fleshed-out as they could be, but I think they do a really good job of distilling the essence of the book and the characters w/o bastardizing it to a shell of its former self--it is still ABSOLUTELY the March family and there is such a genuine warmth and energy from the cast.

I cried several times--whatever, I'm a sap. It was just so refreshing to see a good old fashioned Broadway musical--with a legimate story, songs that move the plot forward, no cynicsm, no agenda, just good old fashioned musical theatre. Frankly, it was refreshing. Almost similar in feel to Les Miz, King and I, or Jane Eyre.

I hope it does well. It's a great family show with a lot of heart, but it will appeal to all audiences and there's actually some THERE there. It made me want to read the book again after 20-some years.

I totally recommend it. Updated On: 12/8/04 at 01:18 AM

Thanks for the review :)

I'm really hoping to get a chance to see it within the next few months.
