I enjoyed it- She certainly has a powerhouse voice and is incredibly talented. I thought that in the beginning, her musings about the frustrations of her early days as a performer were a bit too frequent especially at the beginning of the show. I mean, she's performing at Lincoln Center, is about to star as Cher on Broadway, and has had a career that the majority of theatre actors in the world would kill for and she starts out the show talking about the rough spots in her career? For the record, I definitely think she's been under-appreciated by the Broadway community and has not gotten the blockbuster star vehicle that she deserves, but in this prestigious setting, her constant emphasis on those facts in the beginning of the show turned me off even though it was used largely to comic effect.
I thought that she was terrific vocally throughout though and I hope to see her kill it as Cher in the Fall.

RippedMan said: "Her husband was in Wicked and Elf. Right?"
Stephanie mentioned that she married a prince, and she meant that literally. Sebastian's grandmother was the last Romanov born before the Russian revolution, and the last living member of the dynasty. He is also (distantly) in the line of succession for the British throne.
I was doing some research on Sebastian's great great grandfather, Grand Duke Konstantin, and came across the fact that he only had ten living descendants. When I looked them up, there was Sebastian Arcelus. Small world.

Quite the lineage.
Anastasia (the real one) and he are cousins.
Probably safe to say that only he (by blood, royal no less) and Stephanie (by marriage) are the only Broadway actors who can claim to be related to the title of a currently running musical.

Really loved this concert. I agree the best one by far this season. Her closing number Something Beautiful by Ahrens and Flaherty was breathtaking. I had never heard the song before. Will definitely look to listen to her recording now.

In my early forties is when I saw SJB in Fort Lauderdale. She brought me to my love of theater and belting. I think that day in 200? was when she found out she would be singing for Schoneberg and Boublil. She nailed Elphaba and brought me to musical theater as a life passion at this ripe old age. Had seen Rent and Phantom and loved them, but nothing ever made me a fan like her.

The more I see of this "Little Piggie" the more I love her! I was just able to see the PBS from Friday and SJB sounds so wonderful, she can certainly turn on the/her charm (and with such sincerity!) You also can't rule out the sheer elegance of that concert hall at Columbus Circle either!
Every time I see her she amazes me. We saw her in Edwin Drood (show-stopping); it was hard for her to top Sutton in Anything Goes, but she tried...Falsettos (of course, great) I wish her so much success (and luck) with "Cher"...she deserves it so.

Sutton's show was a big miss for me- She's not my cup of tea to begin with, but she did way too many medleys and irritated me to no end(like c'mon, don't even try to pretend your song with Jonathan Groff wasn't rehearsed beforehand for that long!!!!) . Still, she really did shine in several moments though and of course she is very talented. I can respect her talent(and enjoy it on occasion) , but also not like it personally.
I wish there were more of these throughout the year as well as even more stuff on their website. You wish you could watch all of their old concerts if they had them up(Audra's concert from 5 years ago, My Fair Lady at the NY Philharmonic, ect).

I watched this on Friday night as it was airing and I thought it was truly spectacular. I really hope Andrew Rannells can do just as good of a job.
