re: Liza to get WICKED...

And they would HAVE to write a line in for Morrible about Dorothy. Insta-laugh.

By the way, the "something bad" they could cut above was supposed to be slightly punny.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

nope, nyet, nada to the fans about Wicked as I write this

and Liza doesn't even have a formal publicist

she's booked with concerts at least until mid-March and is currently in Europe - a show in Denmark Monday night, another in Oslo on Wednesday

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Sorry, I usally don't respond to threads likes this, but I have a very hard time believing that this is true...As much as I love "Wicked," the role of Madame Morrible would be a total waste of Liza's time.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Huh a nutcase playing a nutcase...awesome

Ok ok that was harsh (all you Liza fans don't come after me). I just thought it amusing cuz my sister and I were talking about her earlier today. She's got talent, and it would be interesting to see if this would happen.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Don't really wanna get tied up in this discussion; now I don't know a THING about Liza and her work ethic, but just maybe she's a person who does something for the joy of it, not for the size of the role. I know of people who'd rather have a tiny but meaty role than a one-dimensional lead, or who'd rather have any tiny role in a show they love than a big role in one they don't...so maybe Liza's like that. Maybe she loves Wicked and wants to be a part of it (and I was thinking the Wizard of Oz connection too! re: Liza to get WICKED...), maybe she's seen the different ways different actresses have portrayed Morrible and wants to take her own spin...maybe she's not fussed that she doesn't get to sing very much, when she can pack a real punch into the few speaking lines she gets to deliver. Maybe she just wants to have some *fun* without having to learn a huge script and wear herself out 8 times a week?

re: Liza to get WICKED...

It's too bad there wasn't a show just for Liza to come back to Broadway with. But maybe after Wicked some producer will find something new or a good choice revival for Liza to do! KEEP ON GOING LIZA!

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Liza has a lot of talent and it would be wasted if she stars in Wicked as Morrible. I hope it never happens...she should come back to Broadway with a leading role in a musical that suits a big star like her. But still i doubt she will return to Broadway. She doesn't need the money and she seems to have problems commiting to do 8 shows a week. She couldn't even finish her month-run in "Victor/Victoria".

re: Liza to get WICKED...

I assumed it was just rumor. Had she, or some other decent voice, taken over the role, they should add a song just after "As Long As Your Mine" and before the house falls. It would be a great opportunity for something truly evil from Morrible about the storm. It would also give the green girl and Fiyero more time to do the dirty dirty. I always thought it was a pity that they had to rush and all. :P

re: Liza to get WICKED...

totally agree with you lfae. she will never be able to perform in a leading role in a broadway musical every again so her taking on Morrible would be fabulous. She wouldn't have to memorize too many lines, won't have a song (unless they add one for her) and I think it would definitely boost ticket sales (not that Wicked needs a boost in ticket sales). If this happens, I will definitely pay $100 to see Liza live on stage.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

As would I, just to see her. The song addition would be a must. I just don't think it will happen. Not very soon, anyway.

Joel Grey should come back as the Wizard for a little reunion.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Is it really true that Liza doesn't need the money? I know her concert career is fairly robust, but that last marriage of hers was hardly good for the finances, what with the lawsuits and all...

re: Liza to get WICKED...

I have major problems believing this is true. I think, if Morrible had been written even just one more song, then maybe--if Liza really loved the show. But in reality? Having a hard time buying it. When it goes up on broadway.com and/or playbill or some other site, then I'll believe.

Personally, I'd much rather see Liza do some short-lived great thing, like a concert, than a long run in a thankless role like Morrible, in a so-so show like WICKED. When ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, THE MUSICAL! comes out, give me a call.

re: Liza to get WICKED...

Insane. So far beneath her talents, and really unbelievable. Morrible is such a minor charactor in the play. I can't Imagine Liza agreeing to it.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

"If this is true it would be the only reason I'd hope Stephanie take over when Shoshana is done..."

That would be kinda cool Liza Minelli in a show with someone who portrayed Liza Minelli.

"rather see Mullaly in the role someday... "

I'd love to see Ms. Mullally back on Broadway but the way she sings...it would be a waste. She needs a role that would showcase both her acting ability and her voice.

Those actresses keep getting injured.

Hopefully they won't let Liza near the fly system. She might be a little doped up and decide to have some fun.

ray, I know it was awful and I'm sure I'll get beaten to a pulp by the board-members for it. But I HAD to say it. I mean... come on.
