Nicole, no Sondheim show is a "long forgotten flop." A flop, maybe, but not forgotten. Anyone Can Whistle just got a London revival five years ago and it's still frequently produced by colleges and regional/community theatres.

Many of the shows mentioned here actually ran a few months- I don't think they count. They weren't financial successes but they did run. I prefer the quick flops, like FRANKENSTEIN (the play, early 80's). It ran one night. Now that's a flop.
Body Beautiful may not have run too long, but a CD of the entire score was recently released and it has a very good score - Harnick and Bock's first together. Updated On: 10/26/08 at 10:55 PM
I saw "Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public". I actually like the score, and the costumes by Bob Mackie were amazing, but as soon as I saw the two leads (Dee Hoty and Scott Holmes, I believe) riding in on a real horse in the final scene I knew it was a goner.
