Looks like Rob Marshall's INTO THE WOODS Film Is Gonna Happen Sooner Rather than Later — Page 3

Steve Martin as the Wolf- even dark Disney, they're not going to go full pedophile-implications. He'll be more a shady gentleman wolf than a potential rapist.
I could live with Chris Colfer- I had heard that he has some kind of Disney contract now, and I wouldn't be surprised if this enters into that.
Neil Patrick Harris as one of the two princes wouldn't be bad, since everyone agrees that he emanates "charming, not sincere."

Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne as the princes.
Anne Hathaway as the Baker's Wife
Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella
Helena Bonham Carter as Jack's Mother

You did see marhsall's movie of NINE, right? The one where he cut the TITLE SONG? Not just the title song, but the song that basically holds the theme to the musical within its lyrics. So I assume he will take the two songs from INTO THE WOODS that most people identify as encasing the theme to that musical(No One Is Alone and Children Will Listen) and cut them.

I'm being sarcastic, but I can see this happeneing if Nine is any indication.

Yes, please.
(her mom is an opera diva and she sang in a country western film, so I think she might be able to handle it...)

Yes, it's a darker show, but there should definitely be some winks to the audience and play with the concept of fairytales and narrators, etc. It should feel like a "Fractured Fairytale" from Rocky and Bullwinkle just with darker moments that get progessively darker.

EDIT:
And what about Helena Bohnam Carter for the witch.
Helena could play the Witch, but I wouldn't want to hear her sing it. Her voice isn't strong enough. As a character singer, she'd be fine, which is why I think she'd do a good job as Jack's Mother.

She would be great for that part. I also think Meryl Streep looks great for age to play the part. Sara Ramierez and Jane Krakowski would also be terrific.
Depp would actually be an interesting choice for Cinderella's Prince and the Wolf. As for Rapunzel Prince I am not sure, but maybe Matthew Morrison would be good.
Emma Stone as Red Riding Hood would be a very good choice. I know most everyone on here would like Taylor Swift to stay away from that part.
I think Daniel Radcliffe, Jeremy Jordan, or Aaron Tveit would all be great as Jack. Amy Adams could reprise her role as the Baker's Wife and the Nicole Kidman idea someone mentioned earlier was actually pretty good.
ETA: I think Emmy Rossum would be great as Rapunzel. Megan Hilty has always wanted to be a part of this show and I think she would be wonderful and Cinderella or Rapunzel.

Please, no 30-year-old Jack. Jack is a boy.
Helena Bonham Carter would probably be a stunning Witch. But her singing voice is so colorless, bland, and weak. I doubt she could bring the emotion and tenderness to "Stay With Me" - if it were to be kept. Even CZJ, with a limited range, could bring more to that song. I assume they will use something similar to the Vanessa Williams keys.

CZJ as the witch
I really like the Daniel Radcliffe idea for Jack

I mean the Witch, not a fan here, but she is the obvious choice and would prob'ly be perfect.
And this is a movie, kids, no one has to be able to sing.
I'm surprised this is being developed right now with a high profile Central Park production with plans to move close.
Though we won't see the movie for about 3 years.
