For those of you who have the RENT Movie Soundtrack (or have heard it), what is your opinion on the song Love Heals?
I think it’s very beautiful and incredibly touching. I especially love this part:
Love heals
When pain’s too much to bear
When you reach out your hand
And only the wind is there
When life's unfair
When things like us are not to be
Love heals
When you feel so small
Like a grain of sand
Like nothing at all
What do you think?

I think it is a rather weak song and sort of see why it was left off the original production. Plus the lyrics are something I'd expect Céline Dion to sing.
Maybe so, but that doesn't stop it from being a nice song.

I do not believe it was ever part of the original production. The song was written completely for the Love Heals organization.
I don't think it was ever intended to be part of the production. The song was written for Ali Gertz, Jonathan's friend, and the "Ali" mentioned in Life Support. There is now a foundation known as the Love Heals Organization...that is why the song was put on the soundtrack.

I think it's a beautiful song....kind of like a musical hug of sorts.
I love the song. It's so souly! It makes me want to give everyone hugs.
It's a nice song and I'm glad it's on the soundtrack, but it's a bit too "big sweeping power ballad," if that makes any sense.
I really like Sherie Rene Scott's version. As far as being weak lyricly...ehhh- I've heard way worse. It's a ballad, and it's quite beautiful to me!
I like it, I think it is pretty.
However, I'm glad they didn't use it over the credits.
The lyrics may be a bit trite at times, but I think they're sweet. Anyhow, Ali's friends wrote those lyrics, Jonathan Larson just wrote the music. I think 3 people each contributed a verse or something like that.

i'm torn.....there are days i like it, and days i don't.
I really enjoy the song, its actually stuck in my head right now.
...Love Heals, when you feel like you cant go on, Love heals, Love is gonna carry you home....

I had to go put it on just reading this thread.
I think it's beautiful. I like the soundtrack version better than I like Sherie's.
I agree with Lea. I think the lyrics can be trite, but they're sweet.
I really wasn't much of a fan of the song at first, but it's grown on me...mostly because of how wonderful the cast sounds. And it puts me in a good mood.
But add me to the list of people who are glad it wasn't used for the credits of the Rent film. I would like to see some sort of music video on the DVD or something. Just because that would be fun. And you know it.
I really like the song.
I really like that song. Well-written
eh i didn't much care for it- same reasons as billboard girl- but i've only heard it once, it will probably grow on me
I think it is a great song and very moving.
Personally, I think its one of the best songs on the soundtrack. It's a gorgeous, simple, and wonderfully performed song.

I LOVE this song! I can see how some people might not and I understand why it was left out of the movie but I think the theme fits in with RENT's story wonderfully!:)
I love it. True, it is very "power ballad" and I would expect someone like Celine Dion to sing it, but I really like it. It's so joyful.

I love both version of the song. I think it's very beautiful. In the RENT version I love when Tracie sings "When you fear the storm ahead" she has so much vocal strength... it blows me away! I'd love to see it released as a single.
Great song with a very powerful message! Did it end up playing on the credits? I left right when the credits started, I didn't hang around, so I wasn't sure.
