It's very good. And as mentioned before, their box office grosses went WAY up for last week (I know the Saturday night show and both shows on Sunday were pretty much sold out). Hopefully they can stay that way.

yea, i REALLY hope they stay that way! That would be AMAZING!! i LOVE this show much and only want it to do well!!
Is there any new news on laura lately? i havnt heard anything so im assuming theres not.
Nope, no Laura news. Only thing that's new to me is that they've taken her name down from the cast board by the box office for now.

yea, i heard about that. i was just curious because its almost been 4 weeks since her announcement that she was gonna be on medical leave for 4-6 weeks. but jw. i hope shes doing better and can come back to the show soon!!
I don't think she's coming back until the end of the month, since Tina's in the September Playbill. I could be wrong, though.

Hi, WS fans. I'm a newbie here on the thread but have been reading it for awhile..I'm not new to BW shows, though...I still remember seeing "My Fair Lady" at the Pantages in LA when it first came out and "Hair" (yeah..guess that dates this semi-retired H.S.language teacher!!) I've seen "Les Mis" at least 11 times and will see it again soon!! and one of my all-time favs, "Notre Dame De Paris" (Italian tour cast)in Italy-among many other shows. I have not seen the Wedding Singer and honestly didn't pay much attention to it until recently because....
I'm a Constantine fan and admit it.. but I've paid my dues; I saw him sing on AI while at a neighbor's house one night and was impressed. He had so much stage presence-head and shoulders (both figuratively and literally) above the others, so I went to his U.S. solo debut show. I've spent my life with my passion..music in many facets.. and I was very impressed with his combination of stage energy, sense of humor, vocal pyrotechnics (stole the term from a Philippine media critic who reviewed his solo shows there) and his ability to connect with an audience.
HOWEVER....I'm also a realist: I have a son his age and admit that C is NOT a Greek god, but he is good and I would ask only that he be given a fair chance to prove himself to the Broadway community. To many of his 'mature' fans, he is much more than an "American Idol castoff" and hopefully he will bring yet more positive energy to the show. It has long been a dream of his to be in a great BW show and I know he will give Sammy his heart and soul. He certainly brought THIS newbie WS fan back to Broadway-AND to the "Wedding Singer"!
I'm sorry I missed the chance to see the original Sammy! He must have been awesome from what I've read. So far I've have heard only a couple of songs from the show; I live in a podunk town in Arizona with only a SuperWalmart to rely on for good music.LOL.. WALMART- GOOD MUSIC =OXYMORON!! So have yet to find the soundtrack locally. I DID see a vid of the Tony Awards performance of "It's Your Wedding Day" (correct name??) and LOVED it; what an upbeat production number! In fact, the hook is still in my head.
I can't wait to see the show in NYC in October and I truly hope Constantine can add a positive energy and help keep the numbers up!
Anyone going to the Broadway on Broadway show on Sunday? Who is performing from the WS besides Con? Should be a lot of fun!!
Sorry this post is so long..promises short ones in the future!
p.s. Is there such a thing as a decent inexpensive hotel in the Theater District, or is that yet another oxymoron?

thespian geek, I'll be in my favorite seats A103-104... and I'll probably be shrieking. I'm going with my Tina-obsessed friend, my roomie, roomie's cousin, and another friend I randomly bumped into at rush this morning. Oh, and her friend. Yeah, should be a fun show tonight. Look for us! (And we are so owning that standing ovation tonight.)
Oh, and I'm short and have blonde hair, lest you confuse all the shrieking girls in rush.
HEY WED HEADS!
Missed you all, we will be there tonight in the balcony, cannot freakin' wait!!!!!!!!!!

yep, thats the right name!! its really good to hear about constantine bringing people to the show! i guess its what the show needs. although im sure i will miss matthew when i go, it sounds like constantine will do well in his role.
Yeah, um, no: Im still holding onto hope that laura will come back. she is one of the main reasons that i LOVE the show as much as i do! i mean, i love the show itself and the songs are wonderful, but i LOVE laura in the role. i havnt seen tina yet so i cant say i dislike her in the role, in fact, i know a lot of people that love her! i just LOVE laura, lol. so i still have some hope inside of me.

i love laura too so i hope she comes back really soon but i can't say that i don't like Tina because i haven't seen her play the role yet
I guess I get to see Tina so I won't have Laura's performance to compare her to. Also, I'll see Constantine and I know a lot of you liked Matthew. I know I'm going to love it already.
I'm going to Broadway on Broadway Sunday. It's going to be crowded. Hope I can see the cast perform. How does that work anyway? I hope the WS cast is on early.

i hope youll let us know how that is!! (well those of us that cant go at least, lol)
Just saw the cracked out "Family Friendly" version of the show this afternoon. No swearing, so we got bullcrap a lot, no drug references from the best man (booze instead of blow), etc. More like old people friendly, with the audience today, which was awful, worst audience I have ever seen. They didn't laugh at anything, median age was about 80.
Favorite comment was at the stage door after the show- an old woman said to Amy Spanger- "Are you the little slut?"
Hahaha. Poor Amy.

that must have been horrible!!...and poor amy (it's funny) but still
All the old people at the stage door were so funny, grabbing onto everyone's arms and declaring their love for Kevin K, Richard, Amy, Tina, oy!
Amy said she turned 7 shades redder from the comment.
But the whole cast was pretty tired, and just wanted to get out of there after the show.

Aww...
It sounds like that was in... interesting bunch.
