well way to double advertise!! yay!! lol
I just read in another thread (about Constantine), that the Wedding Singer cast will perform "Single" for the Broadway on Broadway thing. Wow. I was expecting It's Your Wedding Day.
So, it seems they may be featuring Constantine's appearance with the show. Interesting.

Oh, I wish they werent performing "Single"
that one is my least favorite in the show...
i wish they could do "Right In Front Of Your Eyes" to showcase both Amy AND Constantine
oh well
Yes, I was told today about Broadway on Broadway.
And the kid-friendly version was a lot of "bullcrap", booze instead of blow, freaking choke, the skank ain't coming, etc.

bwayondabrain: i understand where youre coming from with the fact that theyre performing "Single" but if they are trying to showcase Constantine that really is the best song to do it with. I dont know their intent tho, ha ha. i really think "its your wedding day" is the best song to use to cause attraction to the show, but thats what they do every time. i guess it is nice to see a change.

yeah, does anyone think they might change the lyrics to more "kid-friendly" for the event? i dont know, some lyrics are a bit "different" if you know what i mean :P
but yeah, its nice to have a change of song!
Eh. "Single" is not a song that could be made more kid-friendly.

yeah, i actually didnt mean its "different", the word i was looking for was "crude" at times :P
oh well, it has a nice beat/tempo/tune :)
Wed 9/6 Evening performance:
Kern on for Lynch.
Maroulis on for Saldivar.
Laura's name has been removed from the cast board in the lobby, and from the Playbill completely. She's gone from the credit page, her photo is gone as is her bio, with Tina replacing her in each spot.
Eh. "Single" is not a song that could be made more kid-friendly.

I agree. And as some of the others had stated, it isn't the best song either. I personally would have chosen "It's Your Wedding Day."

They don't have to worry about making it kid-friendly. It's not broadcast on TV. They're most likely gonna do it in all it's glory.

May we assume that they are using Constantine's notoriety to try to boost ticket sales? If that is their objective it would seem to make sense that they would go with Single - Sammy is more prominent in it, even if Wedding Day usually works better as a show piece.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the info about Single. That is interesting to me.
I am really looking forward to hearing some of your opinions about Constantine's performance from a real objective view.
Do you go weekly to the WS? It sounds like some of you go very often.
I go weekly.
Constantine was pretty good, he only messed up a couple times today. His singing was great, and a lot of his acting was similar to his predecessor.

I work at TWS and to tell you the truth Constantine is better then we all thought he was going to be. He looks very good on stage. We all know he can sing and his acting is good. As for him messing up it happens to all of them. When you see the show as much as we do you notice there mistakes. I wish him good luck and a good run with us

I wasn't planning on liking Constantine at all and he was actually... really good. I'm shocked. A lot of what he did was very similar to Matthew Saldivar (even down to the accent) but he added in his own stuff, and changed up some line deliveries, and overall turned in a good performance. He didn't seem so into the stagedoor scene though... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't think anyone was there for him (it didn't seem like more than 1 or 2 people were) and that's why he went almost directly to his car.
Amy started cracking up during "Pop" tonight and it was adorable.
Kevin Kern's voice is SO PRETTY. His "If I Told You" is amazing. And his chemistry with Tina is really good.
It seemed like the whole ensemble was extra goofy tonight. Of course now I can't think of any specific examples but I do remember some stuff being different.
Oh! Kevin Kern messed up a little bit in the dumpster scene. Instead of saying, "I'll never meet anyone new" and then Julia replying, "Not in there, you won't", Kevin sort of forgot his line, so Tina had to say both the setup and punchline for him. I'm a loser so I notice these things.
Liotte, I'm so jealous. I wish I could see it weekly.
Froggy, I wish you could remember how the emsemble was goofy. I love hearing about that kind of stuff.

Aghh I'm sorry, I suck at remembering that kind of stuff. It usually comes back in flashes... but hopefully someone else who was there tonight can remember. (PS thespian, it was great meeting you!)
Oh I almost forgot, they did "1, 2, 3 Chaka Khan!" tonight. Awesome.
I just copy and pasted this directly from my LiveJournal post, so...
The show tonight was freaking WONDERFUL. Everyone was so energetic and vocally... hands down the best I've heard them. Ever. I had a moment during It's Your Wedding Day where I thought to myself "crap, this could be my last time seeing this" and I teared up. But you know what? If, if it is? I'm glad I went out with such an amazing performance from everybody. This show just makes me disgustingly happy and if it closes before I come back in November, I know I'll be absolutely devastated. Though Eric and both Kevin's assure me it'll still be here. :p Of course, Eric says that so he knows he'll still have a job. Cahoon sounded the most optimistic though, so I'm holding him to his word.. or something.
Let me get this out of the way now: Constantine was really, really good. I know some of you are going to rip him to peices just because you don't like him, but putting his Idolness aside and watching him as an actor and singer, he was VERY good. I could hardly believe it was his third show. He plays the role a bit differently, not nearly as ditzy as Saldivar does. And vocally, he was just great. I loved a lot of his line deliveries and his chemistry with Amy was pretty good, so was his chemistry with Cahoon and Kern. There's probably a lot more I could say about his performance, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head. So I guess if you really want to know, ask.
Froggy, it was really great meeting you, too! I'm so glad you liked Kevin as much as you did. He was extra amazing tonight and it made me really happy. "If I Told You" was the prettiest I've ever heard it sound. Hehe.
OH! And I was talking with Eric LaJuan Summers at stagedoor and apparently T. Oliver has injured himself pretty badly. So bad that he needs surgery as soon as possible. So, T. will be out of the show for a while with Michael McGurk on for his track the rest of Kevin's run as Robbie, but with Eric on as Mr. T ... just FYI. :) Hope T heals up quick!!

aww but T. Oliver is one of my favorite =( I hope he gets better soon.
I truly adore this musical and hope that it gains more followers. My partner has seen it 3 times alone and still loves every minute of it.
