Well - the story is gaining traction on social media. Yvette Nicole Brown, Mykail Kilgore, Jasmine Amy Rogers, Zhailon Levingston, Marti Cummings, etc have all posted on Instagram in support of Audra and Kecia.

Audra is the most celebrated Broadway performer in history. This is no dig at Nicole and they’re not predicting who is gonna win. They’re just acknowledging that this nomination made history. Please use some of your brain cells and work on your reading comprehension skills. Not everything is a conspiracy against Nicole.

Well...I think that's part of the problem...

Of course you can do that. You can admire someone's frankness in addressing baloney and still criticize that same frankness when it's misdirected. I really have no idea what point that person was trying to make."
Those are not *my* words. I don't know why you quoted my post in such a manner that it seems like I'm the one who said that, when I very clearly identified the source of that comment in my original message. I don't endorse that point of view -- I thought it was interesting coming from Rick Miramontez's husband, given that the article insinuates that Patti and Rick fell out during THE ROOMMATE.
Personally, I've found Patti's bluntness refreshing in the past, but here she comes across as tone-deaf and classless.

Can we just go back to Audra vs Nicole? At least that shelf life is coming to a conclusion.
Darling, you wanna debate about trophies start another thread. Some people actually enjoy human decency and respect. Who cares who wins the Tony this year if white women like Patti continue to devalue and undercut them to uphold her pedestal. Check her and maybe we can move on."
I keep forgetting the different accounts you have on here.
You say you enjoy human respect and decency how about starting at home by not calling someone “Darling”. Or do you not practice what you seem to preach so freely?"
What would you like me to call you? Would you like to share your real name so we can address you properly? Probably not. Don't try and flip this into victimhood. You're trying to dilute the conversation. Lemme restate: Human being on your computer screen, move aside if you're only worried about a Tony conversation because some of us find the importance here. Better?

This thread is exactly as I knew it would be. Proclaiming it's Patti being Patti and that it's not wild for her to double down and belittle Kecia Lewis. Also even if it IS just shade to Audra, to say that her support of Kecia was "typical Audra", when the woman has literally fought for equality her whole damn career, is IN FACT, racist! White people don't get to tell Black folks, and damn sure not Black women what is and isn't racist. If you disagree, tough titty. Black folks actually don't care if you agree or not. We know what we know. We experience the **** every single day of our lives.
While y'all bend over backwards to defend Patti, ALL OF BLACK BROADWAY and the yt co-conspirators who have a ****ing brain are LIVID! This will not go away quietly, Patti is done... as far as Black folks go who work on Broadway and in the theatre at large really. The fact that y'all don't see it, won't listen, or deflect and make light of some seriously ****ed up **** she said goes to a larger problem.
In any event, I hope the cis white gay men of theatre continue to cloak her in that privilege protection that has embolden her awful rude obnoxious entitled behavior for decades. Because baby let me tell you something...walking the streets between 41st and 55th, she is liable to get cussed TF out by a myriad of people right now. People are legit angry and hurt for our Black Broadway Veteran Legends. It's a new day and Black folks not taking that kind of disrespect, especially against our role models, mentors, and icons. It is because of them that we are able to even do what we do. Knowing how hard they work to get where they are. PL really should sit down and shut tf up, and I say that will all disrespect. She lacks class, sounds down right manic in that interview, an uncouth old white gremlin, mumbling gargoyle from yesteryear who is not even a member of our union anymore. Don't they usually have a method for getting rid of old cows? Put her ass out to pasture as far as the entertainment business is concerned...she has not added anything of value to the American theatre in quite some time...2008 was a long time ago.
When they go low, we gonna take that **** straight to hell. We matching energy. No more rising above or making excuses for white nonsense.

"She's done seven. I've done 31. Don't call yourself a vet, bitch".
Patti Lupone should get in a time machine and see if she can get those 31 shows being Black. Would her obnoxious behaviour be seen as hilariously diva-ish and oh-so-camp? More likely she'd have been seen as an 'uppity minority' who quickly found doors no longer open for her.
What makes this all a bit Norma Desmond is that Lupone hasn't noticed she's nearly 16 years older than Kecia Lewis. Will Lewis fully close that gap in Broadway shows in 16 years time? - no; but she'll have quite a record to her name. Lupone's "call yourself a vet, bitch" is very unconvincing 'ghetto' that makes this all that bit more more awkward - for her.
Bunch of stupid people with nothing to do but clutch their pearls over the holiday weekend. Long live Patti! Loved her then. Love her now. Oh and let me throw some other things out before things disappear . The current production of Gypsy is bland and Audra is a boring Rose. Keicia is a fabulous lady and too good for all this BS. I loved every bit of the article and wouldn’t want Lupone any other way . I don’t think I’d want to know her.. or be friends with her . But long live my diva and can’t wait to see her next concert or tv show. Make of it what you will . Your opinion of me or anyone matters very little to me. Oh and the labeling of people as racist makes you the big part of the bigger problem. That is all.

They won't even be able to comprehend the difference lol...but you are absolutely right. Whether is was AAVE or queer coded language, it's HOW she used it. No one has time for Miss Ann's tired ol' inferiority complex, walking around behaving like a confederate ghost, with her mayonnaise energy and trashy opinions. Talking loud and unsophisticated like only she can.

And all we need is this board to prove it. Shall I pull up the numerous threads where Cynthia Erivo’s behavior over the years is mentioned as a reason she doesn’t deserve a career? Shall I pull up the threads where Tonya Pinkins is treated as a crazed joke who needs to shut up and disappear?
Maybe I should find the preview threads for basically every Audra show since Lady Day where her ability to deliver is questioned time after time because Black performers have to prove their last outing wasn’t just a a fluke time each time they hit the stage.
Like I said yesterday. I’m not going to play brain dead with you people. The patterns are clear. Grace is extended to white women under the cover of “Diva” and everybody else is just a loud bitch who’s lucky to be here.
Never forget when Chita was damn near dead and people on this board were saying:
“well i’ve heard she’s become much more difficult in recent years”
Does being 89 not give you room to be a little more difficult than you were at 20? But here you all are finding excuses for Patti’s “difficulties.”

If you find this board so repugnantly racist and brain dead, why are you here?
Cynthia IS difficult to work with. Tonya IS a nutcase. It has nothing to do with them being Black. It has everything to do with their behavior.
White people CERTAINLY get their share of condemnation on here.
Everyone on this board dragged Laura Osnes, Christine Ebersole, Lea Michele for their repugnant behavior too. Hell, I remember people reaming Kristin Chenoweth on here when she appeared on the 700 Club back in her Wicked days.
And people questioning Audra’s casting in Lady Day had nothing to do with race either. Up until that point, no one knew she could transform her voice into that of Billie Holliday’s, so there was trepidation. She proved everyone wrong. But in this particular production of Gypsy, she was not so successful. Lots of people don’t like her performance. Are they all racist?
Again as a Black person, I find the threads connecting this entire mess back to racism precarious at best.
I guess I’m in the minority and I’m fine with that.
They certainly called for Laura Osnes and that Bailey MTV mess of a girl to never work again and it actually worked in their cases.

Ah yes, Laura Osnes and a girl whose name you can’t even remember are certainly on the level of people finding fault with every major Black performer.
I remember her name but refuse to type it because I hate her. :)

You’re the one trying to invent statements to better fawn over white people. I didn’t say anybody had to like Audra’s Rose. You’ll notice I haven’t said much of anything about Gypsy at all because nothing I’m saying is specific to Gypsy. Or frankly even specific to Audra. But making it about the current Gypsy revival makes it easier to ignore the other things I’m saying.
Whatever. Eventually Patti will say something worse and half of you will get on here and feign shock while the other half will simply move the goalpost until it’s in hell.

My point is this message board has “found fault” in everyone, everything, everywhere all at once. White, black, brown, gay, straight, man, woman…
Click over to the Death Becomes Her thread to read about two white women getting dragged for missing a plethora of performances.
This forum is a bunch of bitchy theater queens nitpicking at sh*t no one else cares about. It always has been.
It’s not about race. They’ll nitpick and find fault in anything and anyone if given the chance. Get over yourself.
