Well - the story is gaining traction on social media. Yvette Nicole Brown, Mykail Kilgore, Jasmine Amy Rogers, Zhailon Levingston, Marti Cummings, etc have all posted on Instagram in support of Audra and Kecia.

Those are not *my* words. I don't know why you quoted my post in such a manner that it seems like I'm the one who said that, when I very clearly identified the source of that comment in my original message. I don't endorse that point of view -- I thought it was interesting coming from Rick Miramontez's husband, given that the article insinuates that Patti and Rick fell out during THE ROOMMATE.

Personally, I've found Patti's bluntness refreshing in the past, but here she comes across as tone-deaf and classless.

This thread is exactly as I knew it would be. Proclaiming it's Patti being Patti and that it's not wild for her to double down and belittle Kecia Lewis. Also even if it IS just shade to Audra, to say that her support of Kecia was "typical Audra", when the woman has literally fought for equality her whole damn career, is IN FACT, racist! White people don't get to tell Black folks, and damn sure not Black women what is and isn't racist. If you disagree, tough titty. Black folks actually don't care if you agree or not. We know what we know. We experience the **** every single day of our lives. 

While y'all bend over backwards to defend Patti, ALL OF BLACK BROADWAY and the yt co-conspirators who have a ****ing brain are LIVID! This will not go away quietly, Patti is done... as far as Black folks go who work on Broadway and in the theatre at large really. The fact that y'all don't see it, won't listen, or deflect and make light of some seriously ****ed up **** she said goes to a larger problem.

In any event, I hope the cis white gay men of theatre continue to cloak her in that privilege protection that has embolden her awful rude obnoxious entitled behavior for decades. Because baby let me tell you something...walking the streets between 41st and 55th, she is liable to get cussed TF out by a myriad of people right now. People are legit angry and hurt for our Black Broadway Veteran Legends. It's a new day and Black folks not taking that kind of disrespect, especially against our role models, mentors, and icons. What makes this all a bit Norma Desmond is that Lupone hasn't noticed she's nearly 16 years older than Kecia Lewis. Will Lewis fully close that gap in Broadway shows in 16 years time? - no; but she'll have quite a record to her name. Lupone's "call yourself a vet, bitch" is very unconvincing 'ghetto' that makes this all that bit more more awkward - for her.

Bunch of stupid people with nothing to do but clutch their pearls over the holiday weekend.  Long live Patti!  Loved her then.  Love her now.  Oh and let me throw some other things out before things disappear .   The current production of Gypsy is bland and Audra is a boring Rose.  Keicia is a fabulous lady and too good for all this BS.  I loved every bit of the article and wouldn’t want Lupone any other way .  I don’t think I’d want to know her.. or be friends with her .  But long live my diva and  can’t wait to see her next concert or tv show.   Make of it what you will . Your opinion of me or anyone matters very little to me.  Oh and the labeling of people as racist makes you the big part of the bigger problem.  That is all.

And all we need is this board to prove it. Shall I pull up the numerous threads where Cynthia Erivo’s behavior over the years is mentioned as a reason she doesn’t deserve a career? Shall I pull up the threads where Tonya Pinkins is treated as a crazed joke who needs to shut up and disappear? 

Maybe I should find the preview threads for basically every Audra show since Lady Day where her ability to deliver is questioned time after time because Black performers have to prove their last outing wasn’t just a a fluke time each time they hit the stage. 

Like I said yesterday. I’m not going to play brain dead with you people. The patterns are clear. Grace is extended to white women under the cover of “Diva” and everybody else is just a loud bitch who’s lucky to be here.

Cynthia IS difficult to work with. Tonya IS a nutcase. It has nothing to do with them being Black. It has everything to do with their behavior. 

White people CERTAINLY get their share of condemnation on here. 

Everyone on this board dragged Laura Osnes, Christine Ebersole, Lea Michele for their repugnant behavior too. Hell, I remember people reaming Kristin Chenoweth on here when she appeared on the 700 Club back in her Wicked days. 

And people questioning Audra’s casting in Lady Day had nothing to do with race either. Up until that point, no one knew she could transform her voice into that of Billie Holliday’s, so there was trepidation. She proved everyone wrong. But in this particular production of Gypsy, she was not so successful. Lots of people don’t like her performance. Are they all racist? 

Again as a Black person, I find the threads connecting this entire mess back to racism precarious at best. 

I guess I’m in the minority and I’m fine with that.
