Wow...this was already an unhinged thread.
But now we're talking witches and ancestors and bad energy and all sorts of other kinds of dumb. Can we exist in the real world please?
My two cents is this. Kecia Lewis was wrong to claim racial microaggressions, and Patti was wrong to say what she said about Kecia and Audra. But in the grand scheme of things, do these things really matter? NO THEY DON'T!
The Racist, the Witch, and the Warzone.
The Tok people posting on both sides of the issue. I am so embarrassed for them. The so called “influencers” are so dumb and so narcissist. And that stageblog has just become a sensationalized witch hunt wannabe platform .

It is indeed The Last Midnight.

Patti is basically the "Sure Grandma, lets get you to bed" meme personified with a side order of "Okay, Boomer".
The chances of anyone on this board having to deal with either them in any kind of involved way is nil. And that's a good thing.
On things that matter: Did you all see that footage of the silhouette of a child wandering through a firebombed school in Gaza?"
I know i’ve said some very strong things in this thread (and i meant every last one of them) but you didn’t feel utterly bizarre when you searched for this picture of a child in the midst of suffering so that you could use it as a cudgel in this unrelated discussion? I mean this is like….what?
It's interesting to see who posted Paul Wonterek's "see our profile on Kecia and Audra" pic, including Matt Doyle.
I for one, think Kecia was totally wrong to insinuate racism especially in an era where legends can be fully cancelled for such an allegation. But I can also say Patti's response was wrong also -- mainly because I don't think print is ever really able to capture her tone, so she shouldn't have gone there at all.

Anything to bring perspective, which, as many have noticed, has been all but obliterated in this doozy of a thread. Not even a cudgel or a finger wag. Those are your tools.

While y'all are bickering, I'm over here trying to be productive. How can we get them back together? Parent Trap style? Like if I scheduled an interview with Patty, and I also scheduled an interview with Audra, and then they both showed up? They would be forced to work everything out! Maybe a duet at the Tony's????

Ohhh. You're one of those. A lot of this thread is making so much more sense now.

What the F those that mean? What’ is “ one of those “? Care to elaborate on your apparent antisemetic comment?
I didn't get my foreskin cut off in front of everyone as a child to be called antisemitic on BroadwayWorld dot com of all places. Very quick to jump to the antisemitic label! But two pages ago didn't you say:
"Oh and the labeling of people as racist makes you the big part of the bigger problem. That is all."
Switch out racism for antisemitism, babe.
xo, a biracial anti-zionist jew :)
One of those = a zionist. Which... point proven, I guess.

While, of course, understanding that much of that is based on actual words that have come out of her actual mouth, all I will add is that Michael Schulman, in my experience, has made a career off of writing these profiles --- profiles of famous individuals where he creates a persona for them in his head and then writes a profile, as dishy as can be, where he does all he can to confirm that persona. I find it a little repugnant, and not good journalism on top of that.
Take that last paragraph: ""What a beautiful day."It was. In Central Park, New Yorkers were strolling among the apple blossoms. “Oh, people sitting by themselves, lonely as hell,” LuPone observed, peering from her window. “HA!Just lonely as hell out there.”"
With one inserted sentence in the middle, he'staken a random odd salty comment from an older woman and subtly used it as proof that she can't appreciate the park, the people outside, the nice day, etc. etc. etc.
Moments like this are littered through the profile ("like a tigress ready to pounce"? really?).Of course, thatdoesn't excuse many of these comments (especially the words on Kecia Lewis... as iluvtheatertrash has said, going for her vet status and calling her a "bitch" is really not the move).
Just my two cents on the amount that I discredit Schulman's byline."
I know I'm late to the conversation (it took me a while to wade through all 9 pages), but I'm curious about this. In reading the profile Patti doesn't exactly come off well (nice she ain't), but I thought it was a rather well-rounded look at who she was. It's sympathetic to her early struggles while diligent about checking her claims and adding necessary context for some of the more reactionary incidents. I suppose you could say it implies that her early struggles in large part formed the way she is now, but that's something I find quite believable just based on what I know of her life from the outside. I haven't read anything else from Schulman, but from what I've gathered from this and other public information it doesn't seem like he's really manufacturing much?
If I was Audra, I'd be sending Patti flowers. She probably just won her another Tony.

It reads antisemetic to me. Same as Patties interview is problematic. Can we stick to the subject that hand?

When those the voting end?
Cool. Well if it reads antisemitic there, you'll love reading where I clarified one post below it. I don't really care if what I'm saying as an anti-zionist Jewish person comes off as antisemitic because the only people who ever call me antisemitic are zionists. Like what's not clicking for you?
And there's Zionism. Anyone got bingo yet?
