Most of tick...tick...BOOM ! , but especially, "We've only so much time to spend, don't want to waste the time I am given. Have it all, play the game, some recommend. I'm afraid it just may be time to give in." Kills me, because it absolutely true.

Need to go to sleep and think of more...

All of the lyrics that Ray Errol Fox wrote for The Confidence Man

Who can explain it, who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons, wise men never try -South Pacific

My favorites include:

"And if you dance like hell you hope you never touch the ground." -Bare

"Drink with me, to days gone by. Can it be you fear to die? Will the world remember you when you fall? Could it be your death means nothing at all? Is you life just one more lie?" -Les Miserables

"Feels like everybody stayed in bed, or maybe I woke too soon. Am I the last survivor, is everybody dead? One this long, long, long Sunday afternoon." -Blood Brothers

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

"You'll be with me/like a handprint on my heart"
I love For Good. Also, "Anyone out of the mainstream/is anyone in the mainstream" it's one of the truest things I've ever heard.

And you ask me why I love her
Through wars, death and despair
She is the constant, we who don't care
And you wonder will I leave her - but how?
I cross over borders but I'm still there now

How can I leave her?
Where would I start?
Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart
- Anthem from Chess -

When you're alone at night
Do you run and hide
Are you strong inside
Are you full of pride
Or just petrified?
- Petrified from Taboo -

The role of a lifetime, it's living a fantasy
A drama that you struggle to erase
Thoughts battle words over deeds
A war with such casualties
All played out behind a smiling face
- Role of a Lifetime from bare: a pop opera -

as a lyricist, i heart these, but the list is so long i would be here weeks...

There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]

"At twenty-two the time came to
Chose a life's profession
I struggled hard to think of one
In line with my obsession
I could have been a boxer
Or a lawyer, yeah, I guess
But no one causes suffering
Like a licensed D.D.S" -I Found a Hobby

I picked up the Little Shop Broadway cast album (I'd already had the original Off-Broadway recording) and, besides thoroughly enjoying the new cast, I LOVE the five demo songs. I think Ashman's lyrics (which I've always loved) in "I Found a Hobby" are just brilliant. The entire song reminds me a lot of an old Tom Lehrer song. Even Ashman's singing voice has a similar style to it.

The entire set of lyrics for 'A Little Priest' are among the most thought-provoking/witty/clever lyrics ever written. There are tons of triple-meanings, witty cracks, clever rhymes. Just brilliant and genius.

"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

all of WICKED, ha.

"everyone deserves the chance to FLY" - just because

"someday there'll be a celebration throughout oz all to do with me" -- because her vision comes true, just not in the way she hoped

"somehow ive fallen under your spell and somehow im feeling its up that i fell" - so romantic !!

Some of my favorites:
"forget regret, or life is yours to miss"
"when I was young & unafraid, when dreams were made and used and wasted"
"who can say if I've been changed for the better, but, because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

EMMA
He wanted to say:
I am here because I have to be.
He wanted to say:
I am here for what is right.
Every day I wake up knowing
What you've lost and what is owing
I would shed this skin if I could
To stand with you and fight.
He wanted to say:

YOUNGER BROTHER
I am not who I appear to be.

EMMA
He wanted to say:

YOUNGER BROTHER
Do not blame me for my past.

BOTH
We have different lives and faces
But our hearts have common places
This was deep inside me
And you helped me find it at last

EMMA
Two men meeting
For a moment in the darkness

COALHOUSE
One turning from...

YOUNGER BROTHER
One waking to...

ALL THREE
...America!
Two men finding
For a moment in the darkness...

YOUNGER BROTHER & COALHOUSE
They're the same.

EMMA
They're the same.

COALHOUSE'S MEN
He wanted to say:

COALHOUSE
How I envy you your innocence.

EMMA & COALHOUSE'S MEN
He wanted to say:

YOUNGER BROTHER
By your side I could be brave
If there's such a thing as justice
Let me help you find your justice
This I do for you and for Sarah
Who lies in her grave...

EMMA & MEN
But all he said was...

YOUNGER BROTHER
I know how to blow things up.

ponine, everything you just mentioned in your last post,

"if life were made of moments
even now and then a bad one,
o but if life were only moments
then you'd never know you had one!"
-Into the Woods, Moments in the woods

"These are both signed O.G.
who the hell is he?"
-the phantom of the opera, notes

"It's really not amusing
he's abusing our position
in addition he wants money
he's a funny sort of spector
to expect a large retainer
nothing plainer
he is clearly quite insane!"
-the phantom of the opera, notes

"sleep little ruthie baby, don't you fear no bat boy
mama's gunna hunt him down and bring him here
then you can skin him and wear him as a jacket
and we'll make a necklace with a dried bat ear"
-bat boy, Mrs.Taylor's Lullaby
