Glad she got good reviews.
I guess everyone was waiting to hear about the Sondheim musical that they forgot this was opening tonight.

No consensus on Did They Like It yet, but Laura Collins-Hughes wrote the NYT review, calling the intimate production “musically gorgeous” but “narratively bumpy.” Looks like she leans positive, but it’s not a Critic’s Pick.

this only is playing for nine weeks, i doubt the reviews give it much of a bump but it certainly won't be extending through the holidays like I heard they were hoping to do

Can't read the article (passed my quota of free articles) and just curious about why it is "narratively bumpy".

Preface this by saying I am a MASSIVE fan of Etheridge’s. “Yes I Am” is probably the most meaningful and personally influential album in my life. Hearing it for the first time in 1993 when I was 14 and questioning who I was and why I was feeling the things I was feeling, that album, those songs (and keep in mind this was before she was “out” and before the internet) that didn’t say a word about being gay, made me know exactly who I was especially “Silent Legacy” that I knew she was singing directly to me as I listened to it at max volume that night, over and over again just sobbing. I’ll never forget that. My eyes opened wide that night and to quote her, I knew that “I will never be the same”.
So I went to this show last night having never gotten the opportunity to see her in person and man was I excited. Surrounded by people my age and a bit older who without saying it, you knew her music meant as much to MANY of them as it did to me. You can tell from the audience reaction just how much love and respect people have for her. She gave us a good 2 and a half hours of beautiful storytelling chronicling her life from birth to right now. I’m not going to read any reviews because I don’t need to. This was one of my favorite nights at the theater. I got to sit right up front behind the “center seats” and I knew that the tiny stage setup right in front of me would be used as some point by her and that she’d be singing 5 feet away from my face and when she did… f*ck man, that was almost a religious experience. Her voice sounds as good as it ever has and looking me dead in the eyes with “I Want To Come Over”, is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had in a theater.
I’m going to have to go back at least a couple more times before this ends. I’m also going to pray to baby Jesus every night before i go to bed that she professionally films this for release.

Anyone have any sense of the chances for an extension? I desperately want to see this but won’t be in NY until first week of January.
