really?? out of all of these shows that recently announced they'll be touring, I wonder how many will actually have a tour come 2011.

So many tours are arriving in 2011
This one will come to fruition for sure. This show will have a successful run where ever a show like Jersey Boys has one; which is everywhere ahah

What a strange coincidence that every show nominated for the Tony has suddenly announced plans for a tour.
LOL. I bet only like 2 of these shows end up touring.
This show will probably do really well on tour. The regional pre-Broadway productions have done really well (Village Theater in Issaquah, Wa, even announced that it was the best selling show that they ever had in their fairly long history, and I think it extended a couple of times. I didn't end up going to see it unfortunately).
This show just opened on B'way, how strange that it's already announcing a tour.

They do it to excite Road Voters, who handle the touring productions across the country and make up a good portion of the Tony votes.
This time every year, all of the Best Musical nominees and occasionally some Best Musical Revival or Best Play nominees announce a tour.

AMERICAN IDOT hasn't announced a tour, but it is certainly the most road friendly of any of the titles. And the producers know this. Their focus right now is trying to make sure the show runs on Broadway.

I can tell you as a Clevelander that if they bill this show as similar to Jersey Boys in any way, it will sell very well. People in Cleveland tend to be very connected to rock and roll stuff, what with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame being there, which is why I'm so surprised Rock of Ages wasn't booked. It seems like a great place for them to start the tour. Though, on the other hand, poor Cleveland...
