MTA Launches Revitalized Broadway Campaign

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the “The Only Sure Way to Make It to Broadway” campaign, encouraging New Yorkers to take the train to the Theatre District. It was modernized / relaunched today, courtesy of RPM and photographer Matthew Murphy. Participating shows include Chicago, The Phantom of the Opera, Dear Evan Hansen, Waitress, Moulin Rouge!, SIX, and Mrs. Doubtfire. I put the group photo above; individual show promo shots are also included in the campaign.

There was a launch ceremony in Times Square this afternoon, with all the 2021 participants, others from 1977, Charlotte St. Martin, and a few representatives from the MTA.

This gave me a good chuckle

Just chiming in to say that I think a golden opportunity was wasted to include André De Shields representing Hadestown: 1) for obvious reasons ("Once upon a time there was a railroad line..."MTA Launches Revitalized Broadway Campaign, and 2) his The Wiz was one of the participating shows in the original 1977 campaign, so it all comes full circle.

Is there a link between these shows? It's a cute ad but a bit weird not to include the Disney shows, Wicked, Hamilton, etc. but feature a limited return engagement (Waitress).

RPM is the ad agency behind this promotion; most of the shows featured here are RPM clients.

Hamilton, Wicked and Lion King are missing and should have been represented as long running shows!

Wicked and the Disney shows are Serino Coyne clients; SpotCo works with Hamilton.

Where can I find some more details about this event? And thank you for replying! I read about it, and it seems like it was a blast! I'd say it was music marketing at its finest. I had to do some research about the cast and all of it! I didn't hear about them until I saw this post. I'd say it was an excellent lecture at the end of the day. It reminded me of the time I've been to NYC. Lovely experience! I had the chance to go on Broadway, and I'll always keep this one memory in my heart. I recommend everyone to see NYC whenever they have the chance to do so. Again, thank you guys for helping with the information :)
