XANADU is a good choice bec. the Original Cast is still intact plus you'll have a chance to see Cheyenne which will be back by then. Enjoy !

No, I'm from New Hampshire. I thought you meant Carpinello because I was never aware that Cheyenne would be out sometime between now and August. Even though I knew it was impossible for Carpinello to be back in so soon- that's why I was confused.

Although Spamalot's performances usually sell out, it's not a sold out show. It's easier now to get tickets in advance.

SPRING AWAKENING
LES MISERABLES
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...

Definitely give Rent a chance. Especially with Anthony and Adam. The movie doesn't even compare to the stage show.

Les Miz- I heard this production is horrible, so I don't think I want to see it.

Legally Blonde- Is it worth seeing? Rush?

Les Miz- I've heard some good things about it. How many shows are you planning on seeing? See Rent or Legally Blonde before this.

Legally Blonde- It has a good score and I've heard great things about it, but I don't think rush seats are very good. Someone back me up on this?

Because I bought tickets for MARY POPPINS before XANADU was really solidified and now I'd rather see the latter.

Rent- Definitely ! its a good show specially with Anthony & Adam coming back.

Ive seen all the musicals you mentioned this year. Legally Blonde (for me ) has only 2 good songs, Ohmigod & So Much Better- If youve seen these two on YouTube- you should be all set- youve seen the highlights. Les Miserables- this revival-forget it.
Even though Lea Salonga is there, it was horrible ! Mary Poppins is probably the best- it depends who you ask- personally I enjoyed it better than Curtains.

SEE XANADU!!!!

I caught it last night w/ my father it we both thought it was THE FUNNIEST SHOW ON BROADWAY RIGHT NOW. Funnier, quirkier, and more tuneful than CURTAINS ... and I'm an AVID fan of THAT show, too! Kerry Butler's WORTH the price of admission!!!

i think the advice about off-broadway is worth repeating.

"gone missing" at barrow street is an absolute gem ... the current run ends in early august, but im betting it extends.

not my cup of tea, but "opus" at 59E59 i bet will be solid.

most importantly, the fringe festival is on for most of the month, as well. lots of dreck, but lots of really cool stuff.

I recommend Xanadu and Curtains!

ETA: You should consider seeing The Drowsy Chaperone. It will be much better with the current Broadway Cast than with the tour cast!

The Year of Magical Thinking

Yes, it's non-musical, but it's Vanessa Redgrave onstage solo for 95 minutes. And it is amazing.

It's open until 8/25.

Americanboy99 ~ since you're with parents, I think Mary Poppins is the better option. I know my parents wouldn't get Xanadu...my dad would be "You spent money on this silliness?" He doesn't have to have it totally serious ~ he liked Spelling Bee, but pure camp he doesn't get.

Go with your instincts and what your main interests are. Seriously, there are a lot of members and opinions on this board, and eventually you'll have been suggested probably every show in town.
That being said, The Color Purple is my personal favorite and Fantasia and the current cast is fantastic, but she'll be there until the end of the year now, so you'll have time to catch her.
