I don't know, but I find it funny that even the lead in a movie musical doesn't get top billing.

See also, Hairspray.

Here's a nice behind-the-scenes article about the film.
A Mamma of a movie

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Well, the actress playing Sophie doesn't get top billing in the musical either, does she?
Donna is the star of the show, especially if played by Meryl Streep.
It's fun how much they make Streep and Seyfried look alike in that poster.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

The character of Donna is the lead in the show and the film. That's why she would get top billing.

Surprising that there's no mention of ABBA on the poster.

Yeah, and at least Nikki Blonsky had "And Introduction" tacked on. That being said, she was a tiny little speck on the poster, you can actually seem Amanda on this one.

If you notice, the names on the poster are organized by levels of fame. From most recognizable to least.

Streep and Brosnan on top
Firth and Baranski as the bookends,
Sarsgaard and Sayfried
Walters and Cooper in the middle

"That's why she would get top billing."

And because she is effing Meryl Streep. Why on earth would they bill a relative unknown over her?

Gosh, I remember when Amanda was on All My Children not so long ago, so great to see her getting so much success.
