I was watching as well. I was hoping she would say something.
Opening night photo coverage is BEAUTIFUL! Those photos of the curtain call are breathtaking.
Broadway.com's Stage Blog also captured a beautiful photo of Audra at the curtain call.

"I really didn't think her Lizzie much cared who she picked in the end..."
I think that's the point - it's not the fact that Lizzie has to choose a man, but the fact that she actually has a choice - therefore, she finally realizes she's loved and will never have to be lonely ever again.

Posted: 5/10/07 at 12:23pmI'm with Munk. If 110 doesn't win Best Revival, ACL will. I don't think Company has a shot. Also, McDonald WILL take all of the awards prior to the Tonys...there is no doubt in my mind. A lot of people who aren't familiar with Lenya will just find Murphy's performance annoying. Plus, she never really gets a showstopping moment (Surabaya Johnny being the closest thing) whereas Audra gets several (Raunchy, Old Maid, Love Don't Turn Away, Simple Little Things). While Murphy was great, I think Audra trumps her.

BINGO !!! It had nothing to do with who she picked... had all to do with the fact that she had found herself, and realized that she could be loved, just for the person that she was !

Add me to this group--- Raul was great, but "Company" left me cold as well-
"110" left me moved!!

Posted: 5/10/07 at 1:15pmI think A CHORUS LINE will take Revival. The NYTIMES critic calling 110 IN THE SHADE an "underwhelming show," "a poor man’s “Music Man,” and "Ick" doesn't seem very promising for a Revival win. I know critics and award voters are not always the same, but it just doenst bode well for BEST NEW REVIVAL!

Posted: 5/10/07 at 1:37pmI would be SHOCKED if "ACL" won--- Not surpised if "Company" wins... Still think it will be "110" despite the NY Times..

ACL is a sentimental show. It may win.
That's a tough category to call.
Do we still think Christine will get her much-deserved Tony?!
(I tend to-it's the performance of her career!)
I actually think Donna and Audra may split the Drama Desk and Outer Critics'.
Drama League-May go to someone from a straight play this year-thinking Julie White or someone like that.

I think Christine will win. I do agree that it is the performance of Christine's career and I would hate to see her not get a Tony for it.
But being the Audra die hard that I am, I can't say I wouldn't like to see Audra giving her 5th highly deserved acceptance speech.

I hope they don't reward A Chorus Line for just taking the blue print and putting it back on stage. That is not a revival, it is a reproduction.
And BJH, I have a feeling the people who decide these things may actually know who Lotte Lenya is. I KNOW, WILD, huh?

Posted: 5/10/07 at 7:05pmWhy does Brantley refer to it as "The Rainmaker" in the last paragraph? I know it's the title of the source material, but seems a little....odd?

Posted: 5/10/07 at 7:54pmIt's not a Freudian thing - but more of an inattention to detail thing. The kind of mistake one makes in a slapdash effort to meet a deadline, I suppose. It's why the NYT should never be perceived as the gold standard of theater review.
