Until an official announcement from ABC is released, I'm not buying it. This type of list of speculation (and claimed as 'official') confirmation always comes out weeks (if not days) before the official one does.
I don't see multi-Emmy Award winning Sean Hayes stooping this low. Not yet, at least.

Stacey just spoke to Jason at ABC and the cast for Season 6 of DANCING WITH THE STARS will be announced on Monday 2/18/08 at the finale' of BRUNO & CARRIE ANN'S DANCE WARS.
Until then... all this is speculation and rumor.

Well as Kathy Griffin would say,
I know that's just a rumor, but it's good enough for me.

As those on this board know quite well... Stacey is my personal assistant and fact checks things for me.

Posted: 2/8/08 at 1:44pmYou are joking right BrodyFosse right? As for this rumor, good for them. Like it or not, this will give Winokur more exposure and fame than her Tony ever did or will.

Posted: 2/8/08 at 1:44pmSean did Campus Ladies and hasn't really been knocking them dead since W & G. Even the bloom is off Mullaly at this point. PLUS, let's not forget that this a HUGELY popular show that gets people ALOT of press and opens up new opportunities if you are good or happen to pass out during the show. Hello, Marie Osmond was on ET every night since that freaking fall and now has her own talk show. It could do anyone's career good depending on how you work it.

Stooping? May you stoop low enough to be seen by thirty million people a week. It's a great gig. Ask Nick Lachey, Joey Fatone, Laila Ali and Mario Lopez who got TV hosting jobs from the show or Joey Lawrence, Harry Hamlin, Lisa Rinna, George Hamilton or John O'Hurley who all got Broadway jobs out of it.

Nick Lachey was NEVER on DWTS. It was his brother Drew.

Yes, but, as with last season, at least 75% of the rumors end up being true. I've heard Marlee Matlin has been asked from several different sources.
Marlee Matlin is an Academy Award winning actress. So if Sean's joining the show would be considered stooping low, I feel like it would be worse for her (even if Sean's success is more recent). But as someone said up there, it is a really popular show. And when you have people going on the show and talking about how much fun they had and how much weight they lost, I can see why more and more semi-mainstream celebrities would want to join up.

I'm not surprised that DWTS would be looking to up the "star" quotient. I am sure they are heavily wooing "bigger" celebs. And the major numbers (and added visibility) the show pulls in would look good to anyone.
Oscar winners, Emmy winners and Tony winners alike.
I think it would be awesome with "bigger" celebs.

Tatum O'Neal is also an Academy Award winner AND she was on the show a few seasons back.
Plus, Marlee (Matlin) is a series regular on Showtime's popular series THE L WORD, so its not like she's out of public sight. She also played (to hilarious effect) Jamie Pressley's lawyer on NBC TV's MY NAME IS EARL on several episodes.

I didn't watch the show back then. I didn't even know she was on the show. My mistake.
I adore Marlee Matlin, although I don't follow her career closely. I know her from The West Wing. I just meant that more people seem to be aware of who Sean is right now, because of W&G, than Marlee. I can say "Sean Hayes might be doing DWTS" without explanation, where I have to explain who Marlee is to many of my friends. Of course, I'm in college, and it could be the age group.
