Mark's Broadway Itinerary

Soooo im heading off to New York this weekend (go to Manchester on Saturday and then fly out Sunday Morning, landing about 2pm).

Here is my "planned itinerary" (Ye, I have NO tickets for anything yet...Oops, although it worked last year). A large part of what shows will be if I win lotterys or not/get student rush/TKTS, and if I don't win i'll try another lottery thats later, and if that fails i'll just buy a ticket anyways. If all goes ideal the plan is:

Sunday Eve Rock of Ages
Monday Eve Next to Normal
Tuesday Eve Shrek
Wednesday Mat Hair
Wednesday Eve In the heights
Thursday Eve 9 to 5
Friday Eve Toxic Avenger
FRIDAY Late Eve My first time
Sat Mat Altar Boyz
Saturday Early Eve Naked Boys Singing
Saturday Eve: FREEEE incase of ticket emergency through the week haha. If my timetable works I really don't know what i'll see. Maybe The Fantasticks or something.

Then sailing back on the QM2 From Sunday-Sat. Oh and then move to London for Uni the following Friday. Busy times Mark's Broadway Itinerary. Watch this thread because i'll be posting mini reviews for everything :P. And i'll be updating my twitter with all my NYC times @markeastaugh if you want to follow ^_^.

Can hardly contain all the excitementtttttttttttt!!!!!!

Envy is such a horrid thing but believe I'm so damn envious of you seeing all those shows.

I look forward to reading about your experiences.

Have fun and be safe.

You have got a great lineup! I can't wait to read some reviews...enjoy your trip!

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

I would book your Sunday Ticket, through a Website offer, skip Rock of Ages and see Next to Normal on Sunday, that will leave you Monday with a vacancy, so go and see Phantom in the marvelous Majestic theatre, a awesome venue for a great show.

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

'N2N' is on Monday schedule now. It did do 2 on a Sunday but that stopped a few weeks ago.

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

There is no chance in hell I am skipping Rock of Ages for anything, let alone Phantom. I know alot of people dislike it but I absolutely love the cast album and it seems like a show I would enjoy.

I've already seen Phantom, and can see it again in London anytime :P.

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

I stand 100% corrected, no problem.
My lead was that its always been the tradition that a show plays Sunday and off Monday on Broadway and that has been the case in my 20 years of Broadway theatre going. I completely forgot that the whole Broadway schedule has been more flexible in the last few years. ( and I've had a few Margaritas!)
I saw 'N2N' on a Sunday at 7pm - what sublime timing to see a show, bring it on London- wish I could say the same about the production. X

Not jealous at alllllll....! What a great line-up, and travelling back by ocean liner - cool idea.

I look forward to reading your reviews. I'm hoping N2N will still be going strong in November - that and Radio City Music Hall are my two definite must-sees for my next trip, so recommendations are more than welcome.

Have a fabulous trip Mark!
Seen some shows in my time....

Wow totally jealous! But have fun!

All but Hair were on TKTs when I was there about a month ago, and I don't think ticket sales have improved much re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary (though obviously :) for you!)

Looking forward to reports!

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

Just come back... 9to5 I still love! Think it has such more potential. Hair is just super and so fitting, its great to see.

Shrek was a bit "eugh" for me... loved it in some places but very hit n miss. Next to Normal was also very good... but not quite a ground breaking as the hype.

Rock of Ages I was forced to see and I hated it. Not my thing though at all

Saw In The Heights on my last trip... very enjoyable but I couldn't ever see it working any where else really to same effect.

From coming back last week in NYC, I have to say I found it very dead and no much exciting going on... bit like the West End. The Autumn schedule on both sides of the atlantic is very bare with a few revival dotted about.

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

I found that too-there was nothing before I went I really *had* to see as in reccent years and nothing much that got me exctied when I went there-although what I did see was good.

However having not been to the WE since Dec last year there are a few things there I am excited about and kept thinking in NY 'hmm now that's money I could spend on somethig I really want to see in London'

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary
At least with The Radio City Christmas Show they do shows as early as 9.30AM and it only runs 90mins or so.
It is certainly a must see in New York. I've seen almost every year for the last 20!
It brings me to tears almost every time!

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

It's worth mentioning that if you do the Radio City tour while the show is on you get a little sneak peek too! (Plus the tour is great-and you get to meet a Rockette!)

...I Wanna Be a Rockette!

I did that tour years ago and I swear the girl was 11 ft tall or more and absolutely perfect - like a doll!

re: Mark's Broadway Itinerary

Have a fab time and just incase you miss us that much, the Times Square Visitors Centre has free internet and its a great plase to pick up Broadway fliers.
If, by the way, your a collector of fliers, the Sheraton Skyline on the next block up 7th Ave to 'Mama Mia' is a great place to get all the latest Broadway fliers!

HAVE A FABTABULOSA TIME MY DEAR!
