After the surprise-hit phenomenon that is Titanique, Marla Mindelle is reportedly developing a There's Something About Mary musical. I mean... of course she is. If anyone can take a beloved-but-dated comedy property and turn it into a riotous campy stage piece, it is her. The big question is whether they can build something that stands on its own or whether it leans entirely on the recognizability of the source. Some of those iconic gags are going to be challenging to translate to a stage musical context. Hopes? Fears? Who do we want as Mary?
