Update
Rachel macadams is out of both shows tomorrow.
has anyone seen her understudy?
I had a ticket for this tomorrow and was so disappointed to receive the email earlier today that she would be out. I’m not going to be able to book a different evening between now and Sunday.
i hope she’s ok.
You can thank the Tony Awards/2024 Broadway superspreader event for her absence (lol).
Her understudy is very good in the role. I can see in certain moments how Rachel’s charm or “it” factor may add an additional layer, but Katya is fantastic. The crowd was so enthusiastic and supportive of her at both the announcement and curtain call, and she really had us in the palm of her hand. I truly can’t think of the last time I heard straight silence from an audience as I did during the intense or high emotional moments in this show. No wrappers, no coughing, no cell phones. Might I mention that not a whole lot of people asked for refunds, as the mezzanine was about 80% full, as well as the front half of the orchestra.
I will say though - this show needs an intermission and a whole second act. It cuts off at such a weird moment and there’s no real…conclusion? Button? I’m going to read the script to see if I’m missing something, but it really feels (to me) as an incomplete work.
Anybody have any intel, by chance, on whether or not Rachel will be back in the show tonight? Trying to decide between the two Mary shows (this and Oh, Mary!) for what to see tonight.
MTC website doesn't have her out of the show tonight like they did yesterday.
They must have papered the house with Katya's friends yesterday.
Easily half of the orchestra and mezzanine were available minutes before both performances yesterday.

I went to the box office at noon today and they said Rachel McAdams was feeling better and was expected to be in the show tonight.
Happy she's gonna be in the show tonight, but even happier that she's feeling better!
I ended up getting a ticket for The Notebook, which isn't a Mary show, but a MaryANN (Plunkett) show.
