If this is true, it's not the best choice... but not the worst either... Sigh. Oh, Disney.
Disney is just one big incestuous family isn't it?
Here's a tissue. I stole it from Gretch's stash but I'm sure she wont mind.
Honey, Disney is just cheap. I jokingly said they would never pay a star salary to someone like Kate Winslet or Anne Hathaway, but in hindsight it makes sense that they wouldn't pay what Kelli O'Hara or Laura Benanti are currently making in their current shows. They can probably pay Ashley Brown close to what she is making in BATB (i.e. 15 percent above scale).
It's so weird to me that Disney is stingy with performers when they spend SO much on flashy sets and special effects. Talk about style over substance.
cheap Bennet?
How much are they spending on TARZAN?
and remember this is a joint venture.

Ugh. Let's hope they spend more on MP then they did on Tarzan.
Seriously...they couldn't even paint the harnesses green?
Or were they trying to go for the Brecht affect?

BSoBW2-what was the big news at Wedding Singer? If it was so big it certainly never made any headlines?

I don't mind popular...I have plenty of tissues to spare.
Can they announce the rest of the cast yet??

All right, I'm tired of reading this -- I just want to know who was cast as Mary Poppins, or who this supposed performer is that Disney is so stingy with! Can someone please just say it? LOL, AP tests are coming up, and I'm stressed as heck! I just need to know.
And curtain, Disney is cheap with their PERFORMERS. Notoriously so. Famously so. Just go ask Heather Headley what she made in AIDA, even after she won a Tony for it. You would laugh - seriously...
I have a feeling Disney is also going to take advantage of her being in house and work her to death with no break by keeping the poor girl in "Beauty and the Beast" until the day before rehearsels start.
If she really is being worked that hard I might have to make a "Free Ashley" t-shirt and wear it to MP.
OK, so since when exactly did people start doing theater for the money?
they think she's the hottest thing in the world...I haven't seen her so I can't judge, but they know that if she goes elsewhere, they'll lose her, so they want to do their best to keep her in-house. They own her.
Of course they will - didn't you read what I said about buying her at an IRS auction? And if she doesn't cooperate they send in Faye Dunaway and a can of Dutch Boy.

"who is brech?"
hahaha...isn't that some kind of shampoo/!! hahahaha
i am very excited for Ashley..i think she is a great talent.
yay ashley! i can really see her do this. she earned it...
i think its best not to discuss pay...no one knows what kind of deal she got. i know lots of people who have starred in Disney shows and they don't complain! Disney sends their actors on cruises!! i would work for disney!!
btw..hasn't it been established that everyone is pajama game is under a LORT contract?
the best person was chosen for the job and i don't think it had anything to do with Disney being cheap.
that being said..i LOVE YOU Michael Bennet...your posts crack me up! LOL! so please don't start a fight with me! i like you, i REALLY like you! LOL!

Wait...I totally heard that Clay Aiken was going to be Poppins. I can't believe they lied to me.
Well, Popular, "what I did for love" and all that jazz, but when you win a Tony for playing the title role in a new Broadway musical and are STILL making less than the Christine alternate in PHANTOM, you'll bitch too!
Now I have this image in my head of a Disney exec in a cape keeping her chained up in a rehearsal room shouting, "Siiiiiiiing for Meeeeeeeeeee"
