I suspect that the producers have no problem with that…the ol’ bait and switch.
Also, as another poster said, the majority of Americans have more or less moved on with their lives when it comes to COVID, and mask wearing has become a bit performative. Having people taking off their masks when they go onstage to perform a song or present or accept an an award would really only emphasize that. I think they are making the right move by simply focusing more on testing.

Apparently too difficult a concept for many to grasp (like e=mc2 which I can't either) but for those who can: You can be contagious with covid for several days before ANY test will show a positive result.

We are sitting in the orchestra and will be wearing masks. There's really no reason not to.

This is to signal to the world that Broadway won’t require masks anymore. They will come off in July. It’s that simple. I can’t see any other reason for this.
My issue though is when they do come off, ALL the theaters need to be aligned, unlike the vaxx checks. It’s annoying that some theaters are still doing that when most are not. (It seems the theaters with subscribers are keeping the act going smh)
I think this also means testing for actors will stop soon too. And it’s time.
By the fall, we will be settled back into just ticket scans and bag checks, and I’m not mad at it.

Yes, I suppose that he possible. COVID tests are not 100% accurate. There are false positives, too.
While I understand why some people - especially those with underlying health conditions - are still very cautious about COVID, everyone should be vaccinated and boosted by now, and we can’t wear these masks for the rest of our lives…

I would say this is HIGHLY dependent on how well this trial balloon goes. If multiple shows have to shut down later in June, the mask mandate stays.

I plan to never be without some. I'd like to pick on the Japanese philosophy of wearing one whenever I'm sick - to help avoid someone else catching my cold - or whatnot.)

I agree that we should wear facemasks in public indoor spaces if we are sick. It’s just common courtesy. When I was in Japan a few years ago I did wonder why we don’t do it in the United States.

Yes, sadly for many (including you), this is the new PTSD.

More than a million people in the US, including many people affiliated with Broadway, died of COVID. A third of vaccinated people who get COVID have long COVID that will affect them for years or decades. I think having PTSD is normal.
