I think this is great news! Can't wait to see this show.
AWESOME!!! Our directer is going to flip her ****, she loves Guys and Dolls.
If you saw the London production, you'd realize you're actually missing out on alot.
Has Legally Blonde recouped yet? They may be doing well right now but I honestly think it's just because of the season and the reality show. Once their target audience goes back to school and the hype from the reality show dies down I think it could be in trouble. It's not like [tos] or RENT which is fairly cheap to run and dipping below their weekly nut a few times could cause it to close.
I am so disappointed, I really was looking forward to a transfer from the Donmar production, I've heard great things about it--particularly Rob Ashford's choreography. And come on, they turned Miss Adelaide's into full-blown strip shows, how neat is that? Oh well. I'm sure Trujillo will do a good job.
I wonder who they are trying to tackle for the cast. I doubt it's the same Patrick Wilson, John C. Reilly, Anne Hathaway, Debra Messing foursome since this is a completely different production with a different director. I'll keep on holding for Jane Krakowski...
Ok so only The Nederlander is currentlly open FOR SURE. West Side Story has to get a theatre so one show HAS TO CLOSE.
If any new show would go into the palace then it would be West Side Story. Legally Blonde is doing fine, when there is a school break etc. Other then that, It really isn't doing that well. I agree with Winter_sky. That once the reality show hype dies down, things could start to not look too bright for this how.
I also agree with what Winter_Sky said about how dripping below the weekly nut a couple of times can cause danger to this show. It hasn't recouped yet, and I don't know if it is close to doing so.
That being said, I think that if this were to go into a Nederlander house, my guess would be The Nederlander. I can see the renovations done in time for a show to be ready to go their in the spring.
LB has not recouped yet...I think it will close (at a financial loss) on December 28, 2008 to make room for West Side Story.
Guys and Dolls should take the (newly refurbished) Nederlander. I would be shocked if Hairspray announced it was closing before the year is out.
That being said, I am VERY EXCITED about seeing Guys & Dolls!!
Oh no...not ANOTHER Guys and Dolls. There are so many shows that do not get a revival every so many years. Sigh.

how did you arrive at that exact date?

I agree, how can anyone get excited about this?
Now for Tony talk. WSS, Guys & Dolls, or Brigadoon, which will win for revival?

If you need a film star to get about one of the most perfect musicals ever, you are what's wrong with Broadway.
Maybe people will get tired of Grease after the summer lets out.
How did I come up with December 28, 2008? It's the last Sunday of the year. The Wedding Singer closed the last week of 2006 and Sweet Charity and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang closed the final week of 2005. It seems like a popular closing date...just like Labor Day and the week after the Tony Awards!

And don't forget Pal Joey, although my hopes for that are slipping. It's Roundabout, it has some questionable casting, has already made some horrible-sounding changes to the book and will be done on the cheap. And the others, I would be willing to bet, will not use drastically-reduced orchestrations, as has been the wont of Roundabout. Would that PJ would get the TLC that I'm sure will be lavished on the other three. I'm really sick about it.

This year there are 5 revivals coming in this year
Godspell
Pal Joey
Guys and Dolls
West Side Story
Brigadoon
at least one will be left out of the best revival category.
What shouldn't I forget?
How could I forget the other two. I expect Brigadoon to be left out.

If Bolstalboy is referring to my comment, why should I get excited about a musical that has been revived countless number of times, performed a billion times by community theatres, and has a score that is extremely tiredsome and very old other than Luck be a Lady?
A revival of this show is NOT for the NYC Broadway fans. If that was true, there are several other excellent choices for shows to be revived. It's only being revived for money. Boring!
WSS & Brigadoon should be the early favorites.
I hope WSS wins revival and Laurents wins director (very early prediction, i know, but i am just SO EXCITED for this WSS revival).
I think this is going to be a tough choice for Best revival, simply based on the shows. I do love guys and Dolls, though, it has my dream role in it! Would they would make a reality show to cast Nicely Nicely...I would so be there! I am a bit surprised this isn't the London one transfering; I simply loved some of the things done with it. The end of Sit Down You're Rockin the Boat is the best it's been so far IMO. Oh, well, I'm sure I'll love it either way. This is a season full of shows people will have probably done while they were in High School, so they will want to see it.
I'm with WAT on this one. I am also pretty excited about West Side Story.
Although I admit it is super early for predictions and stuff

And speaking about too early for predictions, how about Cheyenne for Sky Masterson?
Do you think they will get movie names for the revival?
