This just in: Emmy-winner Megan Mullally has officially signed on to play Alicia Silverstone's mama in ABC's new fall comedy Bad Mother's Handbook...
The series, which will receive an official pickup tomorrow at ABC's upfront presentation, centers on a 32-year-old woman (Silverstone) juggling care of her 16-year-old daughter (Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat) and her 48-year-old mother (Mullally)...

Oh, boy... yet ANOTHER opportunity for Megan to showcase her Karen Walker character she can't seem to shake.
One-trick pony rides again. Yee-hah!

Did the article say her character was rich?
Did the article say her character was a drunk?
Did the article say her character was a pill-popper?
No, I don't think so.
All it said was the show was a comedy. God forbid she does another comedy.
Stop pretending like you know everything about everything, Brody.

The show films in LA.
She'll be leaving YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN at the end of the summer.

Regardless of what the character description is, Ms. Mullally can't seem to rid herself of her Karen Walker-isms. Even her Elizabeth in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is a variation of the same characterization she successfully formulated.
Even if the character was an African-American woman living in Harlem, you betcha Mullally would emote Karen Walker in her interpretation.
Nasal much, Mullally?!
Love me some Megan, but in all honesty -- even her embarrassing attempt at playing characters failed miserably when she hosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and whenever the crickets started rubbing their legs together countless of times during her short-lived talk show, she'd throw in a little Karen Walker ad-lib for a quick audience approval roar.
One-trick pony rides again! Yee-hah!

Posted: 5/12/08 at 10:59pmIf it's a fall show, won't she have to leave before the end of the summer? They'll start filming well before that, I would imagine.

MCfan2, they're still trying to figure it out.
She's most likely leaving in July but potentially in August.

Posted: 5/12/08 at 11:10pmWell, the article said comedy, not sitcom. So, it's probably along the lines of "Samantha Who?," which films in LA.

allthatjazz, acoording to imdb Samantha Who films in LA
I say good for Megan, work is work and the girl deserves to get new jobs when she calls for them. I think she'll be back on Broadway at some point, she's got such a good voice it'd be a shame if she weren't

I don't know why I thought SAMANTHA WHO? filmed in NY. It has such a NY feeling to it.
Either way, there goes my comment.
I hope it's good. I'll miss Mullally on Broadway.

Lol, no kidding, Brody. I thought LOST was filmed in the South Pacific, HEROES filmed in Japan/Odessa/NY, and that WILL & GRACE actually filmed in NY as well.
Brody, go listen to the MAMMA MIA soundtrack that Stacey got you. Maybe the Meryl sound will mellow you out, k? K.
