I mean wow! who would have thought this? from a 9-5 bomb to a lead role on SMASH and now a leading voice on a new disney animated series? Praise to her manager. thats pretty amazing stuff..

I think doing Wicked in L.A. for an extended period of time really helped her visibility among film/ tv professionals, many of whom, no doubt, saw her in Wicked.

Did anybody see her as Glinda in LA? Hands down the best, funniest, most dynamic Glinda that I have ever, ever seen, and that includes the times I saw her play it on Broadway. By the time she got to LA, her Glinda made a full, convincing arc from shallow sorority-type to a commanding and tragic Eva Peron. She dominated the show so strongly that Elphaba just receded into the background--and she was up against some mighty Elphabas too! Normally, I would consider stealing the show like that to be uncouth, but it was such an arresting night of theatre that all was forgiven. I returned to see her three times with different companions and I'm not even a fan of Wicked. I'll bet all these career opportunities are the result of impressing some important audience members in LA.

I've only managed to watch a couple clips of her on youtube as Galinda, but she really was spectacular in the role. I also was a fan of hers in 9 to 5 so I'm happy to hear LA has welcomed her.

Even though 9 to 5 didn't do as well as many had hoped/expected, I don't think Hilty's talent has ever been in question. And I think AdamGreer is correct--she's been a popular Glinda for years, rising from standby to the second replacement on Broadway to a long, acclaimed run in LA, where she and her husband Steve Kazee have made their home for years.

I'm glad that good things are happening for her.

I love her. A lot of people said that her L.A. Galinda was too over-the-top but I thought that her characterization made the transition in act two more striking. She is a wonderful performer. Also, a little fanboy note, she is so nice and warm to people at the stagedoor in my experience. I'm so glad she is getting recognition.
