Hey, I know it's kind of far away but I'm planning on seeing shows over Memorial Day weekend and I'm not sure if it's worth it to buy tickets in advance or if you think from past experience that there will still be plenty available. I'm looking at Three Tall Women and Carousel mainly (with a third up in the air) and while there are still plenty of tickets now for that weekend, I was hoping someone could tell me whether that's usually a super busy time or a deader time? It's also so close to Tonys so that might affect things. Thanks!
As many people here have posted, the performances in Three Tall Women are magnificent. Glenda Jackson's is truly something to behold. So if the critics love it as much as many of us did here, tickets will be hard to come by after opening night a week from today. So I'd get that one now. If there's even a ticket left still for My Fair Lady over Memorial Day weekend, I'd snag that one even faster.
I purchased my tickets for that weekend only for Sunday for 3 Tall Women (the code makes them $99) and Carousel (Carousel has a Sunday evening show.) I do have some interest in selling the Carousel tickets so PM me if interested.
I’ll be in NYC Memorial Day weekend and I bought all my tickets for shows months ago. I’m not sure how it is traditionally, but holiday weekend plus the time between Tony noms and the show could mean a busy weekend
Thanks so much for the advice guys! Looks like I'm better being safe than sorry. I wasn't sure if this was one of the holidays where everyone flees the city but I guess even when locals leave tourists flood in. Thanks! Oh and pacificnorthwest I already have my MFL ticket thank goodness :) That one was important!
I’m also heading into town that weekend for my annual (ok sometimes twice annual) marathon theater weekends. I’ve bought tickets so far for Mean Girls (Thu eve), Boys In the Band (Fri eve), Angels in America (Sat mat and eve), and Three Tall Women (Sun mat). I had been planning on Carousel for Sun eve as it’s one of the few classic shows I’ve never seen, but word of mouth on here so far has me holding off. From what I can tell, Spongebob and Once On This Island also have Sunday evening performances, not sure if there are any others.
