I am so excited for the big announcement on Tuesday at the POW. I will be there!!

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Mirvish announced today that Dirty Dancing will be closing March 29th.

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Looks like DD will indeed be closing at the end of March.

Besides that though, it's exciting times for Toronto theatre!

Very interesting to see that Boys in the Photograph has finally made it to production. Since Mirvish and MTC do a lot of co-pros, I imagine that the production will be a part of this season (for real this time) or possibly next.

Cool!

I'll be there on Tuesday. If any BWW members are there, say hello. I'm the tall guy with the PROPUD-FM flash mic.

:)

MARK

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Would love to be there but I'm unfortunately otherwise engaged. I'll try to have the full list posted early Tuesday morning for anyone who can't make the official announcement. Hopefully by 8 or 9am, in case you don't have internet access at work!

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

I can't make it...one year though!

I'm gonna stay up until 1.00 in case Richard Ouzounian postes the list on thestar.com tonight.

He has before, I'm crossing my fingers he'll do it again re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

If he posts the line-up at 5 or 6, that means I will just have to check before I head out the door!

Recently, The Star hasn't been updated their website until the early morning hours (between 4 & 6 AM).

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

It's sort of hit and miss. Sometimes, he has the reviews posted at two or three, sometimes he has them posted at midnight... just over an hour after the show ends. I imagine most of the reviews are partially prewritten. The non-opinion based parts I would hope.

Anywho, we'll soon see.

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Although I would LOVE to be at the announcement, I will be in class, doing a set design presentation on my model for THE CRUCIBLE.

I'm surprised it's 10 AM and all is quiet on the announcement front. I was hoping something would have leaked by now. Announcement day is my Xmas Day!

Which of those is a tour and which are Canadian casts. I know Stuff Happens, Joseph and Priscilla are Canadian. Any others?

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Yah, not as thrilled as I thought I might be.

Little House, Young Frank and Fiddler are tours for sure.

Im guessing Joseph and Harder are based on the London runs (both which got mixed reviews though).

the only things Im really excited for are Priscilla and Stuff Happens though I heard Fiddler is really good actually (currently in RI).

Not so thrilled about Young Frank.

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Wow, I hate to say this, but I'm disapointed...
I am excited to see Topol as Fiddler, but Little House?
I saw YF in NYC, and enjoyed it, but to see it again?
I had really high hopes....
But....I will still renew....
I REALLY hope Dancap ups their game

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Outside of August, and Priscilla (which were already said)

The rest of the season is very "random" to me. I mean Little House (which I mentioned 1st btw), YF, Joseph, and Fiddler (which we kinda knew).

Surprised that August is a "bounus show". BTW where is Wicked? I was announced a couple of years ago for June 2010. I guess not so much, unless they announce it later, or its the sub in case a show drops out.

Very surprised, and now it is time for Dancap to step up to the plate and bring an awesome series like their first (Drowsy, Ave. Q, Spelling Bee, Jersey Boys, My Fair Lady, and 3 Mo Divas)

re: Mirvish 2009 / 2010

Performances? Well, they had the London Joseph there singing a couple songs, including "Any Dream Will Do" accompanied by local kids. The sort-of MC for the thing was the actor who plays GW Bush in "Stuff Happens", sometimes in character and sometimes as himself. He also performed a few bits of the play.

Hmmm... Who else... Oh yeah... Jimmy Cliff!

Just a note about Little House: Melissa Gilbert is playing the mother which I thought was kind of interesting. Fairly decent creative team, too.
