"On my own" and the Finale of Les Mis. Also, Fine Fine Line from Q. What girl, no matter how old, hasn't felt like that? It's beautiful in it's simplicity.
There's so much more, like "Ill Cover You: Reprise", but them Id be at this thread forever. "Defying Gravity" makes me feel motivated. And "I am what I am" makes me feel proud even though I'm a straight female- it's kind of universal.
OH! I Have to add two more of my favorites "Meadowlark" and "Cabaret". I love Susan Egan's version when you can just HEAR her breakdown-fabulous.

I'll Cover You (reprise). Enough said. Well, I guess you need a backstory if you aren't familiar with Rent...
One with no backstory needed: For Good from Wicked. That one works for me.

hee hee...timote, you really think people are more familiar with Wicked than they would be for Rent?
I'm certainly not....

"Cabaret" from CABARET. There is just so much going on in that song... the baby, Berlin, Clif, the cabaret it self, her world about to fall apart... wow.
And "Deep in the Darkest Night" and "Before the Summer Ends" from DRACULA. Both are very moving... the first is a determination of power and the later a determination of strength. Very touching...

Posted: 8/27/04 at 3:30pmDon't know if anyone said this song but "Don't Cry Out Loud" from The Boy From Oz. I'm not sure what it is about this song, but whenever I have to do a sad monologue of something, I just listen Beth Fowler sing that song a couple times and I'm a mess!

I forgot a few, so:
Goodbye, Love- RENT. The first time I heard it on the OBCR, I burst into tears. For some reason, I thought it was so sad!! I cry at a lot of sad songs, and this is one that always gets me.
Another Day- RENT. Something about it makes me cry. I'm not sure what, but I always cry during that song, especially when the Life Support group joins in with Mimi, with Roger singing in the background.... so great!!
Tell My Father- Civil War. Wow, this is one of the saddest songs ever. I start crying every time I heard this song, because it's so moving.

For me, I'd say..
Maybe This Time - Cabaret
Jimmy - TMM
and I'd have to add Defying Gravity as well, because it really does motivate me for some reason.. those last few lines I think are incredible!

For me, I'd say..
Maybe This Time - Cabaret - it's so heartbreaking!
Jimmy - TMM - very sweet, wistful
Seasons of Love - you just HAVE to clap when they do..
and I'd have to add Defying Gravity as well, because it really does motivate me for some reason.. those last few lines I think are incredible!
