Are we talking about under rated actors/actresses in any medium or just theater?
I think that Lesley Ann Warren is underrated. I wish she would come back to Broadway in something...
I think it's crazy that Charlotte D'Amboise doesn't yet have a Tony.
For very different reasons: Tavi Gevinson (imho extremely talented but whom so many people can't stand for some reason), Brad Pitt (often said to be just a movie star when he's so much more, I even know someone in the industry who - hah! - swears that Tom Cruise is a much better actor), Cuba Gooding, Jr. (always liked him but he is unjustly reviled by some), Jennifer Jason Leigh (only now getting near the respect for decades she's proven worthy of) and Roberto Benigni (a great clown isn't easy to be; Benigni is a magnificent one).

Just wait until everybody gets a look at Rachel Bay Jones in Dear Evan Hansen. Recognition and appreciation is coming... Here's an early prediction for her Best Supporting Actress Tony in April.

Totally agree about Mara Davi. I actually think she's getting some of the reviews she deserves but it's not equating to a flow of Broadway shows.

I know I was the person who was all "underrated is a relative term and anyone could be seen as underrated." But I'd still be very curious to hear, in what way do you think either of those actors is underrated? As I see it, they are two of the most popular young leading men in the Broadway community, and have both had some success on TV/film as well.

I guess they don't actually appear on Broadway that much but I'm not convinced that's not down to choice.

Aaron Tveit could be said to be underrated in terms of industry awards. He was snubbed for the Tony nomination twice, for major leading roles.

Here's a vote for Drew Gehling, who is currently Dr. Pommater in Waitress. What a voice on that guy, and his portrayal of awkward nerdiness... Nobody seems to talk about him when they gush over Waitress, so I thought I'd throw his name out there.
