Absolutely it is The Producers. I wonder how many Tony Voters would go back and change their votes if they could. It was nomianted for WAY to many Tonys and won WAY too many as well. I will admit the show was enjoyable with Matthew and Nathan but shortly after the Tony Awards it became a total drag.
The tour was creaky and the show only got more tedious as the years went on.
It was not the be all, end all of musical comedy.
(I'm still annoyed The Full Monty got so shafted that year so I will admit my bias right away!)

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Will someone please explain to me why it's so damned popular?
Many enjoy it Dolly including yours truly
I don't understand why people don't like Phantom. I mean, over the years it's pretty clear that people can get sick of it, but other than that I just don't get it.
I was just having this conversation last nite, because the tour is currently here in town...The Lion King. I really don't get it. I thought the show was boring and is my least favorite of all time, and I like everything.
It's here for a month, and people are going to see it!
Spring Awakening, High School Musical
I have to agree about The Lion King. I saw it on tour, and while Taymor's direction was excellent, and gthe performers were good, the score (other than the movie numbers) and book were crap.
But still, The Phantom of the Opera is the most overrated show.
Spring Awakening cannot be the most over rated show, ever, when it's only been on Broadway for less than a year.
I would say that distinct honor is a three way tie between; Phantom, Les Mis, and Cats.

the Producers.
musical - Hair Spray
play - the History boys
The Phantom of the Opera and Spamalot top my list, closely followed by The Producers.

Weez, Final Fantasy VII is from one of the most successful series of all time and FFVII, if you've played the others, is the best one out of the whole series; with FFX right behind...The game is on the list of best games ever created; the characters are well developed and each have their own story and the plot is awesome...Back to topic though, Spring Awakening..
Cats Wicked and The Producers all come to mind.
Cats, producers and Poto.
And FFVII rocks; don't even go there.

Yeah, you really don't need to tell me about all this, I *know*. The problem with FFVII is that while it is brilliant, it is regarded by its fans as the second coming, and not even Jesus coming back could live up to the hype they've built around it, let alone a video game.
FFVI is the best one anyway. (It was FFIII when it was originally released in the US, but was the sixth in the series.) FFIX is my favourite, and I wish I could wipe my memory clean so I could play FFX for the first time again. But let's not talk about FFX-2...
