I know this has probably been discussed before, but I am pretty new, so I haven't seen it. I loved Moulin Rouge and would love to see it on Broadway! Does anyone else feel like this? What do you think the chances are of this ever happening? Plus, I would love to see Ewan on Broadway! He's just too cute. If ya'll agree, who do you think would be a good cast? If you don't agree, please don't be mean to me
Just my opinion!

A few months ago, Playbill said that Luhrmann was in work of the stage version of Moulin Rouge...
I just become a stand-by!

I think it might. I would definately come see it. It's one of those things that could translate very well on stage.
I hope they could get Ewan for it as well, I have a feeling they wouldn't hire Nicole again, under pressure she doesn't always perform well (singing wise). Musical wise she should stick to movie musicals.....I'll take her part though!!! (haha)

Mr. Russell - No offense, but shut the hell up.
I hope you were joking, my sincerest apologies. Otherwise I'd have to label you as an... Well, until you give me an answer I'm not going to go there.

Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie and to see it on the stage, that would be awesome. Without Ewan and Nicole though, I don't know who they'd cast. They were so perfect. I heard that Moulin Rouge was going to go to LA and Strictly Ballroom would be on Broadway. My friend and I used to always say we'd be first in line to audition if they brought it to Broadway. I think they'd have to get the rights to all the songs again though and that may take a while if they actually do make it a show. I'll be watching for it! -Penny
PS. Please, be nice Russell.

Posted: 6/26/04 at 8:27pmStrictly Ballroom would make a fabulous Broadway show, no doubt. The costumes would be wild, and the sets would be wonderful eye candy (as long as they use that glittering 'coca cola' billboard and many layers. The dancing, the songs... it will be perfect.

He would certainly look the part. But, from what I have heard, his style doesn't fit the role. It could be his character voice, though.
Who would make a good Satine? Hmmm... Cady Huffman? No... Ummm... Wow, I'm completely stumped.
I am going to suggest Alfred Molina for Zidler. And... how about Howard McGillin as the Duke of Rochester?

I like the idea of Cady Huffman.

I'd have to agree with you there. Great choices.

Okay, on1ystar, okay, just a suggestion...:)
Cady Huffman could work...
And maybe it'd be best if Ewan just played Christian. I love him anyway.

Thank you. Those names literally popped in my head instantly, especially Alfred as Zidler. But do you think Cady Huffman would be a good Satine? I guess it could work... seeing how Nicole is playing Ulla in the movie...

Posted: 6/27/04 at 12:01amhmm... I DO love Idina and I think shes awesome, but I dont think she is right for Satine. I am stumped about the cast too.

Sutton Foster with a long strawberry wig as Satine?
Let's just hope it's either that OR Hunter as Christian and not, um, both.
And Harvey Fierstein as Zigler, anyone?

Posted: 6/27/04 at 12:13amMax Von Essen as Christian. He would be amazing. For an interesting spin on the role of Satine, I second the recommendation of Sutton.

Remember in your fantasy casting:
Satine (sounds like Satan) is the bad girl.
Christian (like Christ) is the good boy.
I personally do not see some of the women suggested as temptresses.
I hope that they are as good of actresses as you give them credit for being.

Posted: 6/27/04 at 9:39amThat's so weird. I love that movie so much and I never noticed the named thin, FF. Haha.... Thanks for enlightening me. Anyway, I actually can see Hunter play Christian but Ewan would be ideal if they could get him to broaden his showbiz path onto Broadway. Nicole actually does some theatre so maybe they could get her to do it too. I don't like the idea of Idina... I think she is talented but just not Satine. How bout for Toulouse? Does anyone know of any talented little people that can speak with a lisp? -Penny
