If you don't like it, it's still ridiculous to be jumping with joy.

I am not jumping for joy & do not see anyone else doing it
I have seen much better shows die a quick death. The closing of any Wilhorn show is treated like a Mardi Gras by some

Posted: 8/18/05 at 7:19pmSaw it a few weeks ago and was unimpressed. The dancing was fabulous and the music was excellent, but I didn't feel like I was attending a broadway show. Glad Tarzan has a theater!

(please sing along to ""Just the Way you ARe')
Don't go changing, to try and please me
This show has let me down before (mmmhhmmmm)
I imagine, it's too familiar
And I don't want to see it anymore
I would just leave it, in these times of trouble
I'm scared that it has come this far (mmmhhhmmmm)
It took our good times, It gave us bad times
I'll kick this show right its arse
This show's trying, some new fashion
It's even used the same choreography from the film "Hair" (mmmhmmmm-inhorrormmm)
It always has this, unspoken passion
And the tourist audience doesn't seem to care
It doesn't have clever conversation
It never wants to work that hard (mmmmhmmmmm)
I just want actors that I can relate to
I want to kick it in the arse
I need to know that shows will always be
The same kind of shows that I always knew
What would it take for audiences to really believe
That this ballet piece isn't new
They said they loved it, and that's forever
The said the same thing about 'Cats' (mmmeeeeoowwwww,,memmmeoowww)
I could not love this, show any better
It's time to kick it in the arse!!!
aarrrrssseeeeee!
(sax solo)
---adios Movin' Out....cha cha cha!!!

Well I don't regret that I haven't seen it, nor will see it. But I guess it's sad when a hit show closes.

Has anyone seen any discount offers floating around? I know they're kind of few and far between for this one.

I get discounts through MTV/Viacom and there is currently a discount code for Movin' Out. The ticket would be $65 and it's only valid from 8/1 - 9/30.
If you'd like the code I can PM it to you!

Posted: 8/18/05 at 8:30pmOhh. See, I'm not all that upset... I saw it once (my brithday this year, actually) and it really couldn't hold my interest. HOWEVER, as it has been mentioned, the band is FANTASTIC. And I'm head over heels in love with Mr. Michael. He gave me a hug and that was that. Very sweet man...hmm. Well maybe he'll start doing more gigs once the show is over! Yayy.

Here I go ranting...i hate when people are happy to see a show close. You are happy about literally hundreds of people losing a job. It's okay that you dont like a show, i know i don't like some, but to want and or be happy a show is closing is just not right. I just cant believe it is closing...it is at 80%...doing pretty good...i wonder if there is any pressure from disney for the space.
Sorry for my rant...but think about all the people associated with the show and not just the show itself when you will and/ or are happy when a show closes...
kisses

Posted: 8/18/05 at 10:37pmi am very unhappy about the people losing their jobs...but im happy billy joel will be out of broaway...i love his music...but that show was crap and i wish they would refund the money to the people who were fooled like me and went to see a musical and ended up seeing a fiasco.

Movin' Out is a beautiful production in many ways...it is upsetting that some people cannot see that.
"and for the lovers of authentic theatre."
The definition of authentic theatre is changing and you (along with many others) need to learn to accept that...aren't theatre folks supposed to be open-minded?

I think many people were turned off by the dialogue-less show, where the dancers used their bodies and facial expressions to do a quite moving job of acting. It would be easy to miss, if you are just sitting in the theater, not paying attention, muttering to yourself that "dancing crap sucks and isn't theatre!"
You can't be innovative without experimenting with new formats.
I admit, I am a dance lover. However, I also admit that what kept me going back to see the show 3 times was the unbelievable chemistry (particularly btwn eliz parkinson and keith roberts) which lured me into the plot.

Okay for you guys who don't think that Movin' Out should have been nominated for Best Musical because it's a dance piece. Let's think about that for a second. There is a live Band. There is a live Singer. There is a Story. There is a Set. There is an Ensemble. What else are we missing here? If you say spoken dialogue, then that means that Mime is not theatre either. Come on guys, why don't you think. As for Contact... the music was recorded music. At least Movin' Out had a singer and band. It deserved it's Tony nomination.
I saw the national tour of Movin' Out and was blown away. I was emotionally moved by the story, music, and dance.
