NEVERMIND

You sure do back down easily. I bet you've had to do that a lot these days.

My boyfriend or the new Roger?

Kringas: You would loose that bet. I don't back down for anything. We fight often. I teach him things. I'm not saying that I'm extraordinarily smart or worldy, I don't know how or why - but I am able to make him see things that he has never thought of before, and watching him grow from an ignorant, selfish person into someone that cares about other people - and most importantly - admit when he's wrong, it's all worth it for me.

You should know, however, that he treats me like a prince.

HAHAHA.

She probably mean Roger.

Seriously, you brought it up. Just saying.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's very appropriate to judge munk's relationship. Perhaps his bf was saying those things to get a rise out of him, maybe he meant it ironically. Or maybe he seriously meant it. Either way, I don't think munk said those things so that we can weigh in on his life choices. He didn't ask for our opinions. I think it was to prove a point. This is a theatre board, not Ricki.

Glad to hear it, munk. You're obviously a fixer. I hope you succeed.

No, it's Kelly Ripa.

The new Roger, Munk.

everythingistaboo, Munk put those facts out there for us to see. Either he thought they were benign and didn't think anyone would say anything or he put them out there as a cry for help. Either way, I realize this isn't Ricki but the facts he provided were relative to the thread he started.

It's not like I'm the only one who thinks he made his boyfriend sound creepy.

That's the most ridiculous story I have ever read. It reads like an excerpt from a James Frey memoir.

And if it's true in spite of that, I just have to say that you are a masochist or a fool or both for having anything to do with that idiot.

Just my 2 cents, IMHO.

Namo - how can you compare fiction to this TRUE story?

Huh?

And I thought you weren't reading Frey.

I think he's saying that the big breakthrough moment happens so quickly, isn't earned and just doesn't ring true.

Or not. I can't read his mind.

Do I need to explain my point? It's presented as a true story but reads patently false.

But Frey is presented falsely and reads...in the same way.

NEVERMIND

If you're now accusing me of fabricating my story, then that is truly unfortunate, for it is word-for-word truth.

I'm not asking any of you to understand why I'm with this guy. It would be impossible for you to, even if I could explain it in the most eloquent way possible.

No, this isn't a "cry for help." If I wanted help, I'd ditch the guy, not post a story on Broadway World.

All I wanted to do was illustrate that RENT really effected someone who was opposed to everything that the show stands for. I'm not saying he'll wake up tomorrow and be different - but he will be more conscious of his actions and thoughts - two things that he's never given much attention to before. I have known him for long enough now to know that atleast that - if only that - is true.

but he will be more conscious of his actions and thoughts - two things that he's never given much attention to before.

Well, if he's gone twenty-something (I'm guessing) years without giving attention to his actions and thoughts, more power to both of you in your continuing efforts to change him. Just remember that it's only in My Fair Lady that Eliza returns to Higgins. In the original tale, his creation leaves him.

Should I have prefaced that My Fair Lady stuff with a spoiler warning?

Honestly im glad to hear that it made him change his mind on alot of things, but munkustrap178, im telling you now. I used to go out with a guy kinda like yours, I thought I would never put up with his ****, I always said that, But in the end I was getting played and duped. He turned out to be bi-polar, he always used to say things, and do things in order to get a reaction out of me. In the end I had to call the cops on him and stop him from trying to kill himself. So honestly, that guy isnt worth the time in the world.

He's right. Today's "I had to agree with him" are tomorrow's "I have thirty-six cents and a Mobil card, but if you give me a room, I swear I will pay you back."

Maybe he's just bitter and hateful because you make him sit through so much bad theatre like the 29th replacement casts of RENT and BATB.
#47

NEVERMIND

I agree with him that if you're viewing the show for the first time, act two is the act that really pulls you in and moves you. It's not like I agree with him that gay people are BAD...I agree with him about a SHOW. Don't make assumptions about my life or financial situation.

MB: Your jokes are not apprectiated. He's the one that wanted to go see PHANTOM and BATB - I just went with him. Neither were on my suggestion. And I'm sorry that you consider RENT bad theatre.

NEVERMIND

RENT was great theatre 10 years ago. It hasn't been good in about 8 years.

P.S. When you break up with him, you'll be able to pinpoint anyone wanting to see BATB and PHANTOM as red flags for a disasterous relationship.
