Honestly, no.  I’m a huge fan of non singers in musicals, the likes of Glenn Close, Carol Channing, Angela Lansbury, Elaine Stritch, Gertrude Lawrence, Michael Crawford, Zero Mostel, Bea Arthur.  I’d take a great actor/comedian any day over a singer who can’t act.  And I’ve got a long list of those, many working on Broadway today.

I doubt she would ever do it, but I'd love to see her as Roxie Hart.

The narrative around her “abysmal” attendance in Cabaret are a bit much. She missed the evening performances on Wednesdays due to a vocal issue, for a few weeks. Had her (and Eddie’s) contract been extended beyond four months of performances, she would have officially done a reduced schedule, which most if not all Sallys after her in the London production have done since.

Regardless, her Sally was epic and I still consider myself lucky to have seen such a lightning rod on stage. I hope she returns to the stage on either side of the Atlantic again soon. I’ll be there.
