Man of La Mancha essentially takes place in some kind of jail, right? (Never saw it, but heard bits of story, so I think so).

At the opening of Urinetown, Officer Barrel leads a "prisoner" to a sort of holding cell/cage - it turns out to be the conductor/pianist, and the orchestra is in the cage.
