Just wondering what the rumoured fall 2019 openings are. Ill likely be back again in November and was wondering what will likely opened/opening. Itll be my friends first time in a very long time. And she likes the stars as well. If anyone knew of any shows:

Hadestown- will be opened by then
Moulin rouge - will be opened by then
Tina -
Company -
Girl From the North County

Anything else ??

“Beetlejuice” will definitely be opened by then as Previews begin at the Winter Garden Theater on March 28th.

After only 8 months? Even with critic reviews that may pan the show, I’m guessing it’ll run at least through Christmas with as much name recognition that Beetlejuice has as a movie. It’s in a prime location on Broadway, and with that Marquee... :)

Didn't help ROCKY!

If the show doesn't improve significantly, or if the reviews are in line with Peter Marks' from DC, I cannot see this sticking around past Labor Day (like Groundhog Day and aforementioned Rocky).

Perhaps. The Addams Family opened in April 2010 and closed December 31, 2011. But Nathan Lane arguably has larger name recognition than Brightman does and this show solely rests on him.

I wouldn’t cross the street to see “Rocky” or “Groundhog Day”, but I would fly to NYC to see “Beetlejuice”.

Arguably? Lane is a significantly larger star than Brightman is.

I was trying to be kind. Im a fan of Brightman, but yes, Lane is much more of a household name.

For as many people where I work who haven’t heard of “Hamilton”, Stephen Sondheim, and most of all the “classic” Broadway Revivals and shows everyone here always swoons over, these middle-America group of folks will more than likely know the name “Beetlejuice” over Nathan Lane and/or Alex Brightman.

But, if “West Side Story” is to begin Previews on December 10, 2019, and assuming “Beetlejuice” runs past Labor Day, when would they have to close the show in order to get the Winter Garden ready for the WSS move-in? Seems like a waste to have that theater empty for the Thanksgiving holidays when the masses will be flocking to NYC that month. Or for it to sit empty for months until WSS is ready.

Its not enough for a show to be a household name. If so, as previously mentioned, Rocky, The Addams Family, Spongebob Squarepants and Groundhog Day wouldve been successful. They werent largely because they didnt appeal to three of the largest demographics for Broadway shows: females, gays, and families with kids. I love many of Tim Burtons films even if Beetlejuice doesnt rank among my favorites. I also loved Brightman in School Of Rock. So I was initially quite excited about Beetlejuice until out-of-town reports started trickling in followed by deadly reviews. Unless they make significant revisions before April and figure out a marketing strategy to appeal to those key demographic groups, I think this will be sadly dead upon arrival (pun intended).
