I thought I was going to be the only one to say L5Y but apparently not. I really disliked it the first few times I listened to it. I don't know why... it's now my favorite.

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

Merrily We Roll Along (actually that was probably because I didn't get it the first few times... once I figured out was going on, I loved it.)

Rent...it was so different than anything I had listened to (yes, I live a sheltered life), and Daphne's voice just bewildered me. Not in a good way. Now, I love it.

Les Miserables...I couldn't understand the big fuss until my voice teacher started raving about it and making me listen to it more.

West Side Story
Guys and Dolls
Oklahoma
^All the classics, of course. :)

The Last 5 Years. When I first listened to it, I hated it and didn't listen to it for a while because of that. But recently I decided to listen to it again, and I am starting to like it. I don't love it yet, but I like it. :)

Mostly everything actually. But the ones that have changed so much are: LES MIS(Crazy, I know. It's my favorite now. I just didn't get it the first time) and HAIRSPRAY. I had to actually see that to like it.

Ok I was like in 5th grade so I probably wouldn't have felt this way if I saw it again for the "first time" ("again for the first time...") now but...

Ragtime

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

I was way too young when I first heard Sunday in the Park with George (though when I watched it on TV, my parents were a bit boggled too), but now I adore that score.

More recently, it was HAIR. I re-discovered it when the Actor's Fund concert happened and now I play the concert CD all the time.

Caroline, or Change.

Seriously. Also, the three songs from The Color Purple, if they count...

MARGARET: "Clara, stop that. That's illegal." - The Light in the Piazza

"I'm not in Bambi and I'm not blonde!" - Idina Menzel

Piazza: It was the constant butt of all my jokes until I heard it again about 2 months after I bought the OBCR. Then, I found it moving and daring...especially the mother's numbers.

Wicked: Another show I wasn't crazy about after listening, but one I saw it I was blown away.

I didn't 'hate' it but I didn't necessarily get the whole concept of Avenue Q. At first, I though that it was a silly and pointless idea to have puppets on stage.
