My FINAL 2005 Tony Predix

Here they are folks...after an entire, extremly heavy Broadway season here are my nominees for the 2005 Tony Awards...discuss...

(there are only 2 Categories I am giving myself the right to change 1) BEST MUSICAL - im getting this feeling that Car might soar higher than those nerdy kids or the lush Beaumont stage & 2) BEST COREOGRAPHY - depending on how Cilento's material is admired by the critics will be very telling of not only the BEST REVIVAL win, but whether or not Cilento takes Mitchell's slot from DRS)

Nominees are announced the morning of Monday, May 9.

riv, for a reason not known to many - this year the nominees will be announced on Tues. morning May 10th.

Beats me as to Why!

I think Best ACtress in a Musical is between Sutton and Clark, from what I've seen. As much as I love Scott, I don't think she stands a chance against those two.

My vote goes to Sutton.

There is NO way La Cage is gonna win Best Revival

Tiny-Toon you dont EVEN want to pick that argument with me. I could spount off 150 reasons why LA CAGE will and should win Best Musical Revival...I do agree that the SWEET CHARITY reviews will be VERY telling of which way the vote swings, but LA CAGE has been open snce December, is a beloved Broadway show (as is Charity), a glorious revival, will be re-reviewed this week, and did I mention - it has been open since December.
That very fact helped NINE slaughter GYPSY 2 yrs back. Although ASSASSINS whooped WONDERFUL TOWN, the Chairty Reviews won't be nearly as glowing as the ASSASSINS notices were.

Cathy - I do think Sherie's chances have gotten stronger recently with there being no Clear Cut Winner. I wouldnt mind her winning, shes a lovely performer...but Sutton was just TOO good in Little Women!

While I have seen every show of those actress nominees (Piazza aside, and I guess that Clark will win)

Foster is young, has won once, and isn't really showing anything new here. I thought she was good, but nothing earth shattering in my opinion.

Scott gave my favorite female performance I have seen this year. I WISH WISH WISH she would win. She won't. Its not a big enough role. The show's spolight falls on Butz and Lithgow.

Applegate, whom I saw last night (sat right in front of Ben Brantley), was decent. It was not a disaster, nor does it really qualify as a "star casting" performance. Yes, she is well known, but she is decent. "Bravest Individual" was off pitch. A lot. Overall, the voice was decent. She danced well (actually, she danced better than she walked)

Clark is my guess to win, although I haven't seen her, with Applegate close behind.

Sherie was FANTASTIC...I adored her, but I just think think she'll get it. Her role seems to be he smallest of the potential nominees this year.

And I think Pacific Overtures should take best revival....though I haven't seen Sweet Charity yet.

Doogie...Foster hasn't shown anything new? Are you kidding me? Her work in LIttle Women is on a whole 'nother level from her work in Millie. This time around she shows that she's not just a great comedianne, but the real deal as an actress. She can handle the dramatic scenes as brilliantly as the comedic ones.

In defense of a show....

Audra McDonald was in RAGTIME for barely in the show and she won the award.

I feel like you are very jaded by your personal preferences as far as both nominees and potential winners. Sutton will NOT win best actress, and DRS doesn't have a prayer at winning best score, nor does it deserve it. I think you better look those over once more...
